Hi, This is a continuation of my last post where I'm trying to get custom courses playable in the offline PGA Career Mode of TW08. Some posts in these forums say that any *.gcf file transfers from TW06/TW07 will not work when using in TW08, but I don't think this is true. Maybe it's true when using the Career Editor of TW06, but I will check that soon.
Here is what I did successfully:
- Transfer all stock courses of TW07 not present in TW08 to TW08 using the TW Caddie. - I created a new player in TW07 as a Pro, randomizing its appearance somwhat, quit TW07. - Go to Documents\,,,\Tiger Woods PGA Tour 07\Career\Players
Here you copy the player folder and the [Player Name].plr into: Documents\,,,\Tiger Woods PGA Tour 08\Career\Players In this location you will have to change some files: In the folder Players delete anything except the PGA.gcf Go to the TW08 game folder ...\Default files\Career\GCFS and copy everything except PGA.gcf
You are basically done. All you need to do is when launching TW08 to adjust the player appearance to get a player logo (just change his hair lenght or something like that).
When you now go in the Game Mode > PGA Tour, launch the first competition and you'll see that the course Falls Golf Club will load and play correctly. I've checked it out.
This tells me that there is NO reason any custum courses installed correctly will not work in TW08. I will now check it out by modifying a Tour in CE first using the stock courses TW07/TW08 and then with a custom course at the start. If the first runs OK but the second not, then it's a matter of folder/file names being miss-named and not being correctly located in registry.

Oh, forgot to mention: you will have to assign a home course in TW07 to a course which is also a stock one in TW08 when creating your player in TW07, otherwise the career will most probably go in tilt in TW08, but you could count this out on your 5 fingers...

Hi Xenonsurf,
Sounds complicated, but good research. |

Ok, success! You can use Career Editor of TW06 to create your career in TW08. Just read my new topic. |

so do you have to still load courses and libs in TW2006 or you have to have TW2007 game install too with courses and libs on hard drive? |

yes, you will need TW06, TW07, TW08 installed and all these versions must have the courses and libraries you intend to use in TW08. Also you'll have to correct in the registry so-called "double courses", like Coghill in TW06 and Coghill in TW08 which are different courses: Career Editor will always assign the native TW06 courses, so you have to correct that in the registry BEFORE saving and transfering the CE file PGAUser.gcf, otherwise such courses will crash in the career of TW08.

About these "double courses": I've just tryed out getting started in TW07: they will load correctly, so the fact is these courses point to the TW07 courses and this must be corrected in some way, probably with the reg entries of the courses. Please read my new topic just above, I will update any info there.
