So, I am getting back into creating courses, and I am using TW 06 for PC along with that years course architect and library creator.
The last library I made worked in architect, but when I imported the course into the game to test the few holes I had created, it crashed. After a series of tests with different "test" courses and textures, I found out that it had to be something in my created library that crashed it. So, I am going back to basics.
I cannot find any of the tutorials for creating a library other than Rat Zona's texture tutorial. I think what I need is help with what to save the file as. I remember both TGA and .DDS files being mentioned, but for the life of me, I cannot remember which one to use in the actual library. OnceI get the right file into the library creator, I think I can remember what I need to do, but I'll take any pointers anyone wants to give me.
Any help at all is appreciated.
Thank you. |

Cool. I try it when I get home.
Man, it's a lil tough to remember all the things I need to do after stepping back from it for a few years.
So, just for curiousity sake, what are the .dds files for? Is it faces? Flags? That seems to be what I remember now. But I could be wrong...:-D
Thank you for the help sir. |

Hiya Ed....
Best way to start is to download one of the custom golfballs and edit the pic with photoshop ...paintnet or other program, you will have to save it as: .dds For example start from the Popeye golfball:
http://www.coursedownloads.com/extras/details.asp?id=706
It is .dds file....... and the size is: 512 x 128
When you are using photoshop you will have to download the dds plugin:
http://developer.nvidia.com/nvidia-texture-tools-adobe-photoshop |

It says on the Download page that this file is for CS3 (I have used CS2 without issue) as well as all the other Photoshop releases. I am using IE9 as well. Lookin for some help.. this never happend b4 I turned 60! lol any help is appreciated.. thanx ed |

Hi Ed...
Can you find DDS in this directory:
C:\photoshop\Adobe Photoshop CS3\Plug-Ins\File Formats
And is the extension: .8BI
When the extension of the file formats is .8BI i can send you the dds.8BI file |

Sorry to break things up, but I am still having an issue.
I created the textures in .TGA form (1024 x 1024 size) and created the library. The grass props I gave them are the ones listed in Rat Zona's texture tutorial (found here). The ball collision data is the default numbers.
I made a quick hole, and compiled the course to test it. Upon the game trying to load the course, it crashed again. So, what am I missing?
Just for completeness, I'll list my computer specs, in case that is somehow the problem...
Gateway DX4860 Windows 7 with SP1 Intel Core i3-2100 CPU@3.10Hz 6.00GB RAM 64 Bit OS
Again, thanks in advance. |

you can use Win7 professional or ultimate (not home premium)
so you can get the xp-mode/virtual PC for installing the tw06 software, tools or you could set up a dual boot xp and Win7 and keep design stuff on XP (assuming you can both upgrade XP and keep it as a separate install)

I am using Photoshop CS3 on Win7 64 bit, i remember i used an older driver for the DDS plugin and it seems to work here. I attached zipfile with inside the dds.8BI i am using. Unzip the zipfile and try to paste the dds.8BI in the folder: File Formats
C:\photoshop\Adobe Photoshop CS3\Plug-Ins\File Formats |
