Not my course this time but one of the courses uploaded by one of the newer designers.
I noticed the course rating was only one so I had a quick look at the pics of the course. This is what I wrote in the comments.
First of all let me say I haven't played this course, all I've done is look at the picture gallery. For someone to give this course one point and not leave a comment is ridiculous. There is certainly room for improvement from what I can see but there is no way someone should give one point and not specify why. It may be there are valid reason for marking so low, but unless these are pointed out to the designer then there is no way of knowing.
Do we want to encourage people to take up course design or do we just want to shoot them down before they have really started? Since EA pulled the plug there are a lot fewer designers making courses these days and seeingstuff like this isn't going to improve that situation.
I have posted a few times before about this sort of thing happening but nothing ever seems to get done. |

I totally agree Neil. Check this out to boot. Lets say a guy/gal gets 300 downloads, well why in the hell do they only get 2 or 3 comments? What the heck is wrong with the other 297 people that were lucky enough to have someone design a course for them to play? Does it really take that much time to give a constructive comment on a course? Maybe some are afraid to post a comment, but you could say nice job, thank you, I think it would be better if you did this or that, etc. etc etc.. But alas, its always been this way.. |

I was checking some of the people who were online at the time I posted. (nothing to do with the marking thing) I did notice a couple who had been members since 2008, you can imagine how many courses they have downloaded in this time. Course comments ZERO. In fact there is someone online as I am writing this, Joined Oct 2004 !!!!! Comments left for courses ZERO. Honestly what a bunch of ingrates. |

I would guess anyone who sees a 1 rating for their course doesnt take it too seriously. As were all aware, there are an inordinate number of dickheads on the internet (;present company excluded of course!).
As for course ratings: Ive downloaded quite a few courses over the years and have left a handful of comments at most. I have though contacted some designers via PM and thanked them for their efforts. I understand your concern about leaving idiotic 1 ratings, but I dont see the connection between that issue and not leaving comments at all. Seems like two different issues here. |

I have to agree as well. I have seen courses get a 1 without comments and also seen courses get a 4 without comments. Only a handful of people and they are mostly designers rate or comment. This is why I chose to leave rating off on my courses. Too easy to give a 1 out of spite or whatever reason they do it. Now they can't. Cheers |

I just want to clear up my position, Im not really talking so much about the rating and I dont really think someone has to explain there rating of a course. I just think this is such a gr8 site that more folks should participate in letting designers know what they think of there course.. Following the rules of the site of course, but its always gr8 to get respectful, thoughtful constructive criticism that will help designers get better and better, which in turn benefits all.. More participation especially now that the servers are off. Im really amazed at how many designers are still at it, I think its wonderful...:) Keep up the gr8 work.. |
