| I have been playing online with some other golfers...and they will make a shot and the ball goes past the pin and into the rough.. yet he sees it go into the hole. and the score indicates that it did just that.. went into the hole.... what is going on.. It never happens to me.. but some people I play have it happen two or three times a round. If it is a glitch how come it happens continuously to some golfers, but never to others. This usually happens on long iron shots. never on putts or short iron chip or pitch shots. Does anyone have any idea what is going on?? |

usually indicates internet lag between players
each players game 'guesses' where the shot will land and renders (draws) the result based on the data received
data slows down etc - then wrong drawing happens
using ready play by a player will also make different results seen at times

| Something else crossed my mind about this lag. Could the lag problem be not so much about the network and more about what different players have set in Options/Game? I know Readyplay's been mentioned but what about things like Shot Reaction Motions or True Swing Analyser? With those ON the electrons have a little more to do and thus even on a level network playing field maybe there could be lag? |

I dont think those settings will have influence on the lag.
But there is another factor that is important on online play:
Some courses are released (V1), and a few days later they got fixed by the designer, and realeased as V2.
Now when 2 players play this course, and player 1 is using course V1, and the other player is using V2, it will result that both players will see different things.
Example: the architect changes a few pin positions on the greens on V2
Now the first player will see his ball go in the hole, this info will be send to the second player, but he will not see the ball go in the hole, because his flag is on other pin position.

Yes it has happened to me on a chip only say 35 feet from the pin , out of the fringe.
I saw it go in the other players said it did not, but i had no putt , no ball marker left on the green, an EA shot ? or as has been explained Packet loss ?.
