I have a Dell AS400 that has been great for playing this game for over 2 years now. I am runing Microsoft XP and until HP got into my machine to fix a printer problem, everything was fine. I had 1GB RAM, and while I had to turn down some of the options on the Manual Settings, I had it working great. Now, I have a problem with the video portions of the game. All of the players play smoothly without lag, and any jerky motion. However, my profile is giving me fits. When he finishes a shot, the action freezes for about 7-10 seconds then picks up again. Thinking that I really needed to get more RAM, I bought new memory and now have 3GBs. That did not solve the problem. So I went ahead and bought a new Video Card. I had NVIDIA GeForce 6800 with 128mgs onboard memory, now I have installed the GeForce 7300 with 256mgs. Every other application, game, or otherwise works great...and even the Golf is fine except for my profile. It freezes at the end of every action shot... So if you sink a birdy putt, the video stops... sits there for 7-10 seconds ..then starts up again with the announcer saying ...Look at that birdy putt.
I did see an error on my shutdown about 3-4 days ago... something to the effect rundll32.exe error. So not sure if that is the problem or not. Any help anyone can be would be greatly appreciated. I have played this game for almost 2 years now and love it. |

Did you know about doing this:
Start menu\Documents\Tiger Woods PGA TOUR08\Career\Players\Your-created-player-name-here\Confidence.
Click on HoleType.tcn
Delete it then close out all open folders and load game,
play one hole offline in Custom game set,
then repeat location of HoleType.tcn,
right click on HoleType ( which now only has 50kb or less )
select properties, at the bottom of that window put a check in the Attributes [ x ]Read-only,
click APPLY then OK.
This will stop all Lag on your golfer in offline game play AND online plae, on LAN as well |

| Thanks Justin, I will try that and add to this thread, the results. I do remember when I loaded 2008 a couple of years back that I did something to improve the performance, but couldn't remember what it was. I think this may have been it. |

| Yep, that did it... Thanks Justin. Funny thing, I went to save your instructions for future, just in case. I have a file already titled TW2008 fix...and yep it was the same instructions. I knew I had made some changes when I first loaded the game, but just couldn't remember what it was. Now I know.. If I ever reload the game again, I won't forget this step... well maybe. |

easier to just save your created player(;s) files (;after doing the confidence files fix) and drop them into
C:\Documents and Settings\YourUserName\My Documents\Tiger Woods PGA TOUR 08
\Ability - 2 files
\Career\Players - Player name folder + playername.plr file
that way you always have them, especially if your player file(;s) get corrupted and needs to be replaced |
