The grid is off by default in Expert mode....

EXPERT was made by EA to emulate real golf ie: real golf has no grid - no caddy to tell you yardages per club - no zoom key to see down the fairway - etc.
Sorry but there is no way to get a grid in expert and one cannot be put in it for expert mode.
