In a couple of months I'll be off to Maui, Hawaii, for a short stay at the Kaanapali Beach Hotel. Included in our stay is apparently a round of golf at the adjoining course. Never having played a round of real golf in my life, I am of course very much looking forward to this. (I believe the Waialea course that I once did for the PGAX tour is not too far off, so maybe I'll check that one out as well.) Does anybody have any experience with the Kaanapali course that would be of use to me? |

Bring a bunch of Beer....Or preferably in my case, Jack Daniels.
And bring a camera....I've had the privilege of playing golf in hawaii and the scenery, on the course i played, was pretty killer.
enjoy your trip man |

Thank you guys, I'll keep your advice in mind. I suppose I can rent a set of clubs when I get there? I have no experience in these matters. |

Most courses rent clubs at the pro shop. Just DO NOT tell them you have never played before. Hopefully you will get a chance to practice at a driving range before you go, to at least get an idea what you are in for. And when you are playing, remember that you need to keep your pace of play up so that those behind you do not have their round spoiled by having to wait. Take plenty of golf balls, and if you hit where you cannot find the ball in two minutes, just walk back into the fairway and drop a new ball and move on. Just buy a bunch of cheap balls. For your first time, the quality of the ball will not make any difference.
Have fun! |

Jimi...Your going to have a blast man!..Think of golf as Baseball>bent over...Tip #2)Bring a pencil with an eraser! Tip#3)Keep an extra ball in your pocket..and when no ones looking, throw it about 20 yards farther towards the green!....and you might want to invest in these two items!....lol...Have a great time!! |

Not meaning to upstage you, BUTT - your pic reminded me about a calendar I, along with two friends, shot, entitled My Potty. We shot twelve months worth of shots, all about a guy named Joe Joe who, whenever he got so upset he might crap himself, his magic potty would show up to help him out. The twelve shots are all situations where he would need help. Things like hanging on the side of a rock face hundreds of feet off the ground, waking up after a night of drinking in bed with the ugliest person in the world, trying to bluff at poker with a nothing hand while the other players all have pat hands, a dentist getting ready to drill, etc., and all with his trusty potty there with him. We took over six months to shoot everything and used NO special effects. When he is hanging on the cliff, he is really hanging on the cliff - lol. Anyway, here is one that I thought I would share with all my golfing buddies. And by the way, we could not find anyone with enough guts to publish this thing. Oh well. And by the way, I am the one behind the camera, so you cant see me - lol!

I'm sure you could have found someone to publish it over here, lol. Thanks for the sound advice. I did hit some balls at a driving range once, so I wouldn't totally be lying if I said I have experience, lol. How much do golf balls cost b.t.w.? |

Never been to Hawaii but I am betting you should buy them at a local department store and take them with you. You can pick them up here (stateside) for Top Flite, which is a good ball, for about $20 for a 15 ball box. That should be enough to get you through a round -lol. |

If I take 15 balls, that would imply that I would misplace less than 1 ball per hole. Would that be realistic? lol |
