I dont know what the possibilities are, but I know they are out there. Right now, it looks like Clambakers and PGAX are the only two tours that will be able to continue as of now. However, I would like to offer my site at danutgolf.com as a host, at least for stats and such, if nothing else, in case there are some new ideas for tours. I have a site which can be built to specifications for whatever needs be. To be honest, the site is very inexpensive to run, but I am no web builder genius - lol.
Like I said, if anyone has any thoughts or ideas, I am open for listening and possible discussion.
It may come as a shock to some, but with PGAX using only their own designs, the only other alternative to getting any of my courses played in tournies is Clambakers. Clambakers is great, possibly one of the best tours ever to come out of TW golf. But they only use one course per week, and there are probably 3 to 6 courses released each and every week. I fear, as a designer, that people will begin to download only courses they need for the tourney in which they will be playing. I make courses for people to enjoy. If they are not to be downloaded and played, then I feel like I am wasting effort. I am convinced that if we (;the community) were to come up with a way to have a lobby for people to meet in and connect for games to be played, then we could still use LAN, IP or Hamachi to get the games in. But the secret to keeping the game alive (;in my opinion) is to keep people together to play occasional matches in addition to the tournaments.
So maybe a site could be dedicated to creating that lobby and people could then play their games as before in EASO. No, there would not be leader boards or anything of the sort, but certain information could be inserted (;maybe) as far as statistics go. I think the idea of player of the week or club of the week, are something that can be done away with, but we could still make clubs and figure out a way for one club to play another, and other such options.
I have played using Hamachi, and the only thing I can currently say about it is that it is certainly far more dependable than EASO ever was - lol.
Anyway, just food for thought.
Comments or suggestions, anyone?
ps - I just threw this up here without thinking it through very well, so I am sure there are things to be rethought, but it at least gets the idea out there.

Steve. If you look back over a period of time you will see that the number of courses downloaded from this site has been steadily decreasing. Is the explanation that the playing community was fragmenting even before TW0 was released? Hope someone is able to take you up on your generous offer. |

I noticed the trend as well, but it really started right about the time that the later betas of TWO were out, and then when EA announced the closure plans for EASO it dropped rather dramatically. I think that was to be well expected. And if we don't find some way to get some further options available, I believe we sill see the decline continue. I don't think I can foresee a time anytime soon where there will not be any TW tours and such available, but hey, we're all going to die off at some point - lol. |

i personally think tw 08 is far better than the online version, having played every beta in it,and tw 08 future depends very importantly on people on sites like this producing courses and other updates which will keep the game alive, very much in the mould of another golf game i play links 2003 which with all the add ons and new courses and such doesnt seem like a 10 year old game, gameranger hosts links match ups and u can get a game most times, and i see tw is also started being hosted there aswell, albiet with slight teething problems but aslong as u have the option of playing online, and people remain interesed in turning out courses,i see no reason why tw like links will still be going strong long after there parent companies pulled the plug on them |

Steve,
You need to stop by PGAX more. We are adding other tours and will be using community courses for other tours. Our existing tour is the only one using our own designs. |

One wonders if that PM exchange in the end could result in a CDT launcher and thus secure a 3rd TW08 tour running besides Clam and PGAX ;-) |

I think that would require some interest by the owners of this site and the CDT tour - not really what Steve was talking about. |
