Perhaps some of you have noticed my absence / sporadic appearances in the last 6 months. I feel like I should explain a bit. I was nearly finished with my third course when the news broke on Tiger's misadventures. This bummed me out quite a bit and although I don't judge and try to forgive, it took a lot of fun out of being associated with the product. At the same time I was hitting a wall with the course I was working on, and that bummed me out. Added to that, I could see the writing on the wall with TWO. So my motivation for virtual golf was stymied.

In real life, I lost my job, which has been very hard. This happened in November and in a rather cruel way, while at the same time is was a blessing. (It was not a happy place to work.)

In other real life, I have been avidly reading about golf design (just finished Tom Doak's "Anatomy of a Golf Course"), and actually making some progress at learning to play the game. Lately I'm pretty broke, but I have been trying to hit 100 chip shots in my back yard nearly every day. I have had some really good lessons from a great pro. I have a nice 9-hole course a block from my house, and I play there as often as I can afford to without feeling guilty. My last round of 9 holes I had 3 personal firsts: My first shot with a driver in the fairway; first birdie, and first par.

So anyway, with no EA server support, I am not sure if I will design again. If this site keeps going, I probably will, just to fun and my own satisfaction and love of the game.

Mostly I want to say a huge thanks for all the friendship and camaraderie that you all have offer me during my time here. I won't ever forget your enthusiasm, patience, and encouragement.

Woody....... really sorry to hear about your work situation...... I'm self-employed and things have been pretty bleak for the last year and a half, so I can relate.

ON a positive note.... this site has no plans to shut down, and pgax.com is working hard to employ plans for all levels to keep playing , even after EA shuts down the server.

Keep yer head up!

Hiya Woody...

Not the end of TW08...Coursedownloads not closing and designers releasing courses every week.
Several sites are working on a solution to keep TW08 alive: Clambakers.... pgax..... gameranger.com...and some others..

you will get a job soon pal,as for easo shutting down the servers i dont see how and why this will affect tw08 as gameranger is started hosting online match ups;and im sure there will be others, microsoft stopped the links franchice years ago and its still going strong ,so i see tw going down the same road and as long as talented guys like yourself continue with new courses i c a rosie future for tw,also since u started playing real golf try and get your hands on a wii and tw 11 as this is the closest to playing real golf in your home you will ever get.it will also improve your reallife game no ends

Well thanks guys, that all sounds good. I may try a fix for my course in production and start a new one after all.
