I was at the local Best Buy and asked what some of the downsides of the new netbooks are. All he really said was the lack of a CD/DVD drive. They seem to have a nice amount of space and some still come with XP. Looks like it would be nice to install the CA on for compiling. My questions are:
Has anyone had any experience with one of these?
Would I be able to install an external DVD drive?
Any other issues that I should know about? |

| Hey Bobby. I've never worked with one before, but I would think that as long as it has a USB or Firewire slot that you would be able to connect an external CD or DVD drive. |

I will be getting one for one of my kids, I do know for the most part they run a 533 mhz fsb and a integrated card. I'd be willing to bet, pretty slow if indeed the CA works at all. Like Jeff said, I believe they have ports for an external drive.

| I read a while back that Microsoft would be releasing a version of Windows 7 optimized for netbooks. The industry seems to be all over the place, some diving in, some bailing out. My question is: Is is possible to look cool with a netbook? :-p |
