Ok let me start by saying I converted from the gamepad swing to truswing vertical. The gamepad swing could be too easy at times, and yet the putting was never consistent(though 65% always seemed to be the max I could get on putting power). With my new computer I decided to give truswing a try again. It was a little tough at first but i could see the difference right away with putting. No more putts going a mile past the hole or a mile short, it can happen, but just more control.
My first golfer in 08 was a professional so I could just play courses. I got the hang of truswing but wondered if making a new golfer and maxing his stats would make a difference. So I went thru the tiger challenge and played up to the 2nd tour partly, capping all the stats.
I have a few questions on the swing. First off, I have always had a slow or very slow tempo. That was mainly just because I tried to swing like I would in real life. It seems to get a normal tempo you have to pull back and push forward in .1 seconds. If you saw it on TV you would think it was played at 4x speed. Not sure how this matters, but when I hit a great shot(at least I think), the tempo is the only item in red(ie path, impact, etc).
Now with other versions and even this one for my pro and the start of my newly created golfer, the distances were close to what i expected. If I played in still winds and aimed at the pin with no elevation change on a flat lie, the shot when hit right would end up pretty close to what I planned for. My problem now is that I seem to have to overclub for almost all my shots. I have hit perfect shots(except for tempo maybe) and had them come up 40yds short on a straight and flat fairway to green. Now that may not be the norm, it does happen more then every now and then. I find myself looking at my shot aim and going 10yds past the pin(again for testing this, still winds and normal conditions) to acount for it coming up short. Still even then sometimes its right on, sometimes its short by a long way.
I have already said alot so I will see what responses I get before going further. I dont expect to be perfect every time and like to struggle. But that is when I am hitting bad shots or plan poorly, not when I think about the shot, hit it perfect and have an awful result. I have also noticed the ball go left or right on flat lies even with no wind and a straight, good impact shot.
Thanks for any advice or help you can provide in advance. |

Tempo plays a huge part in the accuracy of the distance in TS. I think you should look into changing the nature of your shafts to more closely match your slow tempo. |

You may already have experimented with the following, but if not, give it a try. It may possibly help with one or both of your issues.
If you have a slow or very slow swing all the time, you can go into the Game Face screen and then the equipment screen and choose to use regular shafts and not stiff or extra stiff. There might even be some softer shafts. Those will help with your shot tempo. The softer your shaft, the more it will equate to a faster swing tempo, that is, speed up your swing. For those who consistently swing fast, a stiff or extra stiff shaft translates to a slower tempo. And for distance, make sure you experiment with the different ball types. For example, for those people I know, they almost all play with the Bridgestone B330-S ball, which seems to give the maximum distance possible.
I hope this helps. Take care,

Does any one else have this type of issue or know the fix? I just started having it myself, but only in Advanced. Novice seems to be fairly accurate on the distances. Seems I am hitting the ball 30 yds shorter than normal and my swing is the same as always. Same clubs, same everything, except the distance. This is happening both online and offline.
Uninstalled and re-installed, changed clubs, created a new character, created a new online account (with the purchase of a new game of course, and yes... I'm desperate.) just to see if that was it. Still hitting way short on drives and approach shots. Most importantly it is happening only in True Swing. The swing meter registers 105% with a 9 deg. driver to go 270 yds. I was hitting about 300 yds before. When I play 3-Click in Advanced, there isn't a problem , except for hitting it straight.. lol
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Ok.. changed to the Bridgestone and got extra stiff shafts. tried to pay more attention to my tempo on the swing and the problem is gone. I had been punching it if you will, fast and very fast tempo. Slowed it down and now I'm hitting right on. Guess I should have tried the above posters suggestions first.
Anyway I can sleep again.. lol.. see ya on the course.

Also advanced swing is many times more sensitive then novice play, so that is a good idea, slow down and try to control your swing, it will take some getting used to, but it is very much more realistic then novice. Have fun.. |
