I'm playing 2005 and 2006 courses at the moment. On most of the custom courses, the water next to fairways and greens looks fine if I set my water texture setting to medium. However, on one or two courses, the water is a dull patchwork pattern whichever water texture I'm using....off, auto, low, high, very high etc - whatever.

Is there anything I can do to improve this? As I say, on most course I'm playing the water is glossy - as it should be.

Thoughts appreciated.

Oconee Valley (TW2005) by big slick is an example I recently downloaded. A great course, only problem being the lifeless water. Not a problem on the other big slick courses I've downloaded.

As I said above, Oconee Valley (TW2005) by big slick is one example.

I had the problem on other courses until I turned my water details down from very high to medium. However, on Oconee Valley (a TW2005 course beng played on TW2006) the water texture remains as a lifeless patchwork texture whatever I do.

That also happens on some TW2006 courses being played on TW2006 - so I don't think it's the fact that I'm playing courses from an earlier version on a later version of TW.

Maybe the designer used a water texture from a custom library that doesn't render well?

I guess what we want to know is, are you playing these different years in the 2008 game?

I am pretty sure that if you are playing 2006 with the 2006 game and have an ATI video card, the water on the custom courses renders lifeless, no movement whatsoever.

If your playing these games with TW's 2008 then I think it's just hit or miss with the way other years will play in 08. Sorry, but I don't have a technical answer for why this occurs..

Or it could be like jimi say's, depends on what the architect used.

what i ASKED was what version of TW are you playing a 2005 course in ? sorry if that wasn't clear
you didn't say ...in 2006 initially

as above - some libraries work fine in all versions PLAYED in
others don't
sometimes adjusting water (or shader in 08) will help
the game engine changed from 05 to 06 and again from 06 to 07 (08 had some changes but generally plays like 07)
- that and your video card generally accounts for these type of differences
