I use Paint Shop Pro to create my logos. The issue that I am having is that when I save the file in the dds format and go into the game, the black background of the hexagon logo still shows up. I have tried to follow the tutorial for creating logos by gunpower61 using his template, but when I go to load the alpha channel paint shop pro says that there are no alpha channels. Can anyone tell me how to fix this issue. I would greatly appreciate it.

Thank you.

BH, I use photoshop dont know how different it is but this is what I do.

Open the logo temp/magic wand the black area/create a new layer/hit the delete button on key board and you should now have the checkerboard backround, now I hit deselect. Now drag your pic onto the logo, then drag the new layer down below the first one in the layers window. then hit free transform and you should be able to move the pic around inside the logo, then save as dds. Of course this is just how I do it and Im sure there are different or faster or better ways. I just dont know em.

How BH if Paint shop is totally different, just forget what I just said. lol
Hope this helps.

Axe.

there is a way to add a mask (alpha channel) to PSP - maybe google it

if not, try Paint.net (free program)
jeff jarvis did a tutoprial on using it for splash, logo etc in 2008 Utilities section

I'm not sure which template file you are using, but the one I created a long time ago for my tutorials contained an alpha mask. I am attaching one here that is specifically designed for Paint Shop Pro. It is in the proprietary PSP format. It contains the alpha mask.

Thanks to everyone that replied to this post to help me with my problems. I tried everything in the post, but I am still having issues just getting the hexagon logo to display. When I try using the file provided by JSJarvis, it still gives me problems. When I go to save the file as a dds file, I get a message that informs my that due to the limitations, no alpha channels will be saved. When I continue to save the file and reopen the dds file just saved, there is no image. Does anyone know how I save this file as a dds file using paint shop pro.

Thank you,
BH

I have figured out how to add the alpha mark, the issue that I am having is that when I go to save the file as a dds file, a message comes up stating that due to the limitations, no alpha channels (marks) will be saved. So I either get no image or the black background shows up in the game instead of just the hexagon image with the logo inside. Any insight is welcome.

Thanks

This is a wild guess but I think I have got that message before and I had to Flatten the image first then it will work.

Actually now that I think about it. I think it said To many channels to Export.

My bad if thats not your problem.

I had as similar problem with my last course too, using Paint Shop Pro.

I gave up on it and just downloaded the Paint.net program and followed the tutorial. Worked perfectly after that.
