So I've made my first course using the Course Architect. I "compiled" it and it appeared in my copy of TW06 for me to play. Having played a practice round I realised it needed a fair bit of amendment.

I then went back to the course architect and carried out allsorts of amendments, putting in more trees, changing he terrain, sorting out the greens, adding some buildings, etc. Now to make the changes noticeable in the game I assumed that I followed the same method as before. Auto repaired the course, put my perimeter on, then compiled it. But everytime I try this the compile process gets halfway through then the dreaded "Course architect has encountered a problem and has to close" box comes up!! Am I doing something wrong here? Or is my laptop/copy of architect just screwed? It's so frustrating after the hours of amending I've done as I think the course would look really good now.

Try compiling without structures or trees and see if that makes a difference.

I think it is a good idea to save backup copies in increments. I never do a whole lot of work before I test then save and so on.

I know it's to late for your problem, but I wanted to bring it up for future work that you may do on your course.
That way it makes it easier to track down something you may have done wrong.

Let us know what happens after you try Bobby's recommendation.

Okay, I'll try compiling without structures and trees to see if that helps...bit of a shame as the trees and the houses I've added will really make it look realistic, but I guess its better than nothing.

Its more than likely my laptop though as I dont think its geared for top ending gaming! I'll keep you posted, and thanks for the tips.

The problem could only be 1 structure or 1 tree or none of the above. This will just help you pinpoint it.

Hi Dave,

There wasn't any libraries missing that you may have had and deleted? I had this once and it would stop compiling midway also.

I just finished a course last week and used the Jimbos Flowers library, which gace me all sorts of problems. As soon as I got rid of the flowers, the course was fine. Maybe also check for any sticky libraries in the cloaking tool.
