Hello all, i'm quite new to TW08 and enjoying any minute of it. I've been using the true swing (v) but can't seems to hit the ball perfectly. Any tips ?
Thank you! |

| The difficulty level makes a big difference of course. Also, I believe the mouse you use makes a difference. Some are more sensitive than others and can make it tougher to keep the ball straight. |

| So what do you suggest ? I do love playing on expert level due the fact i want it to be as real as it get (On novice it's too easy). |

| Well, my suggestion would be to drop down a difficulty level or even two, shut the green grid off and try that. You'll find it's easier to keep the ball straight. And if the difficulty becomes too easy for you, bump up the difficulty again. And of course there's always practice mode. |

Hmmmm Best advice I can give, is practice, practice, practice as much as you can........
I just started TW maybe 5-6 months ago, and played 3-click novice, then intermediate TS, and now I'm trying to play expert TS. Very hard it is, and not much room for error, but like you said. It's the realism I enjoy most about this game, and it doesn't get any more real like than expert play in my opinion. I just use a regular Dell mouse that came with our computer, and probably won't get all that stuff that makes it easier or do things like chip on greens to maybe lower my handicap some. Figured most tours run off handicaps so it's me against my game anyways so why should I do things that take away from my experience of why I love about this game. When my skills set might only have so many birds in it now anyways. Doing things like this could make it that much tougher for me out there, I suppose too. A course is designed to only give so many great birds chances it seems, but I still have much to learn with TW still, so I might be way wrong with this thinking. Just my preference so just do what you enjoy, and all will be great.... :)
I couldn't hit the ball straight off the tee at all when I 1st tried expert, and thought I was doomed to ever play expert, but now I can actually manage a course unless I loose focus for a second & my serious fade rears it's ugly head. At first I scored like 70-90 in expert, but now I'm like a +10 - +15 handicap. Close to lowering it once I get my putting a little better. Not great scores I have, but compared to where I was at 1st, it's much improved. As long as I can manage a course, I enjoy this game very much indeed. Even when scrambling like mad man after bad shots, I enjoy the challenge it brings to the table. Sometimes a bogey feels like a birdie in this game for me when it's looks like I might do worse after getting in a tight spot.
Good luck, and happy golfing buddy Squirrely |

Yes, Like bangus said This is what i did, hit the ball over, over, over, and over in practice mode until I adjusted what needed to be done to hit the ball straight of the tee. This helped me the most I think with being able to hit straight finally in expert mode. What I did was hit & then hit the escape key so I could hit the ball again as soon as possible to get swing right. This allowed me to make the little adjustments to see where I needed my arm, wrist angle, mouse movements, or whatever else I needed to hit the ball OK in expert. It tough at first , but once you find what does what, you can do OK with it even though it seems impossible at first.
Much to learn I still have, but it just takes time to get it all good, so hang in there, youll get it
Again Good luck Squirrely |

I was having huge trouble not over drawing the ball on advanced. I gave the game up for months thinking it was my mouse, and I tried both optical and ball. I wanted to use gamepad swing, but its too forgiving. I even went to use JoyToKey (;I think thats what its called) which allows you to control your cursor using a gamepad and that flopped. I was pushing every putt using any type of mouse at all. This past week I changed to forgiving clubs, shafts, etc. and used Mizuno gear primarily. Specifically my equipment is:
Driver: Mizuno MX 500 (;there are no more forgiving drivers) Woods: Mizuno F50 Irons: Mizuno MX900 Wedge: Mizuno MP T Series Raw Haze Putter: Rossa Monza Corza Shafts: Ping@CS Lite S Balls: Precept XP3
I havent changed any attributes. I get enough variability on draws and fades to make it challenging. My bro and I play on IP2IP and we have an honors system in putting of not using the grid 10ft and in. |

| Also remember, tempo is probably the single most important part of the expert swing... |

Yes tempo is very key, and I try to hit this more than green pure. pure & tempo makes to ball fly like the wind my friend....:)
I can't hit green pure on the money every time so I give up at least 20-40 yds every hole & have to hit a long Iron or 7W-5W to hole on long par 4 all the time. This makes carry bunkers real tough sometimes, and I'm starting to have nightmares of Bethpage again talking about this.....LOL Since I can't hit pure green on every shot I would rather not hit it, and make sure I don't so I know kinda what distance I'm going to get. Would rather be consistent than going different distances all the time, especially on approach shots. Now once I get where I can hit green pure all the time when I want too, I'll use it my green pure swing I have all the time in TW
Just giving ya what working for me right now, and I still have much to learn with it all. Everyone in TW seems to have their own grove, and just find what works best from trying all kind of different clubs, different playing styles, and practice like a mo. I playing chart someone gave to me for expert works good too, and as helped me so much. My game is 15-20 yds shorter than what the chart says, but I just figure my difference & it's all good.
Hope this helps ya, and good luck Squirrely |
