This is my first post, feel free to smack me down if none of this makes sense.
I've played other sports games on the PC (MVP Baseball, MLB2k9, NBA2k9) and modifying the clothing and face textures of the players in the games is what keeps the game alive. I bough Tiger Woods 08 for the PC the other day for $10. As a life long console player of the game, it took a while to get used to the completely different game engine.
Anyways, I noticed how bad Tiger Woods himself looked. Almost white in color, his body mishapen, etc. I came on here (because I knew the community was great at creating the courses) looking for updated clothing and new textures. It appears nothing has been created in that field.
Is this something people aren't interested in? I know there are certain limitation because of encryption on the files, but in the past we've done pretty good work on cracking some of the code on some games to make things that didn't before work...work. For example, over at EAMods.com we had a modder who figured out the setup of 2k9s roster files so that making the players statistics, body types, and such more accurate.
With 2010 being strictly a web-based game, it'd be nice to see 08 live on. I know that programs like TexMod work on games like Madden, has anyone tried to grab the shirt textures using that?
Any information would be appreciated. |

sounds like some graphics issues there tiger looks pretty much like tiger on my PC not that i use him as a player much (actually at all - i don't bother with the CPU players)
texmod works thought there were a few posts about using it, can't find them
it's easy enough to do, but running TW through the mod program to see the textures/clothing created is a pain, and other players need to do the same to see them
i can see why not many expressed any interest
game code cracking not exactly a welcome subject :) it's a fine line between changing clothing to other 'stuff' that directly impacts gameplay
my 2 cents anyways |

You're free to create any player, edit his appearance and attributes, and use him as a CPU opponent. No modding needed. And for the record, CPU Tiger looks exactly like his real-life counterpart. The issue is with your PC and graphics card, and not with the game.

There is nothing wrong with my graphics card. EA does a terrible job in every one of their games (2k sports as well) in creating textures for players faces.
Things like audio, the game announces Tiger from Orlando instead of Windermere, Florida are easily editable using the audio files from the console games. The LPGA golfers could be replaced (if we could edit player attributes of stock players) with guys like John Daly, etc. |

Obviously there is, seeing Tiger isn't anywhere near almost white, nor is his body mishappen. Either that or you're the poor Joe that just happened to get the one bad game disk out of the whole lot.

2008 PC
 2010 XBOX 360

Graphically, the 2008 textures can be made to look a lot more like the 2010 if we had access to the .bmp used (;or .dds). Does anyone know where it is located or if anyone has had success with TexMod? |

well, maybe if you used a stock course from 08, the comparison of graphics might be better :)

ive only used texmod for gameface type things the ingame player dds files are hard coded |

Below is a screen from TW 08 on the PC. Tiger hardly looks white and mis-shapen.

| No, that isn't. You got it off a website that said it was when in reality that is from the 360 version of the game. |
