This may be a rediculous question...but here it goes!Is it possible to create a library of custom airplanes from the Flight Simulator series that would work in Tiger Woods..I have the book"The Gmax Bible"and it shows a section on planes and trains. It would be cool to see a Stealth bomber,a tomkat,or an F-15 on a runway next to a course!I know Jimi can do it.Any input on this would be appreciated!

I'm sure it could be made... Don't expect it to move at all though.

The problem with structures like that is that they tend to be rather complicated, which means that they run up a lot of so-called poly points which go into the total point count of the course. If you put too many of them on a course you will encounter all sorts of visual and graphic issues. F.i. if the total point count of all your structures gets too high, you can lose entire chuncks of your pano. Or if you put too many of one particular hi-poly structure on your course, it will not render all its surfaces anymore.
The course I did with the WWI airplanes on it ran pretty close to what's possible, pointswise.
The planes on that pic look OK, I think I could keep them at 2-3,000 poly points, which is just about acceptable, but you couldn't use more than 3 or 4 on your course, I reckon.
Of course they could never fly, just hover, lol.

Here's a jet. This is just 2,750 poly points, but it has no landing gear. That would add a couple of hundred points more.

PD, I did a lib with a couple of jet fighters in different states of battle-readiness. Let me know it you'd like me to upload it.

Ok Jimi...Here is kind of what I had in mind!Your jets look awesome..
Believe it or not, many military bases have golf courses close by!That hole is the 4th green...and the course is playing really smoothe, even with the planes set in place...I just had to try this...Thanks man...

Jimi, that point count is not too high. As long as there aren't dozens of them in one place it should work okay. Get to making them - lol!

Great pix, PD. I love the way you laid out that USAF sign. Very neat.
Maybe I'll try and do a stealth fighter next. You won't be able to see it, though, it being invisible and all, lol.

Yeah, those planes look good on the runway like that. When I used to go work on bases, there was always a golf course it seems for the troops to play on. Gotta give the troops some relax time after protecting the USA...... :)

Jimi,
Do you use the program I downloaded called gmax to make all those killer things you make?
I think I have downloaded a tutorial concerning this, but it might have got lost to me with all the info I'm trying to learn with this designing stuff. My desktop is cover with shortcuts of tutorials & course save points right now.....: LOL
Plus, some of my tutorials are gone when I try to click on the shortcut on my desktop, but not sure why they went away. I will most likely never get to learn this program, but I find it neat that you can make all the cool things you make for TW with this program, and just curious.

Thanks
Squirrely

I use somthing similar to Gmax. There is a gmax tutorial available somewhere that explains how to do a WWII fighter plane, but the poly count on that would be prohibitively high for TW. Doing good looking structures is more in the textures you use than in the shapes you create, anyway. When you do a house, the basic shapes are pretty simple, basically just squares, circles and triangles that you fit together.
Here's a great site with all sorts of textures:
http://www.cgtextures.com/
They're free to use and come in different sizes. Remember, the larger the texture image you use, the better and more detailed it'll show up in the game. I wouldn't go beyond 2048x2048 pixels, though, as it also affects the size of your lib. It's all a matter of compromise, like everything in this #@$%&*# game. JK of course.

Ok thanks
I doubt I even try making anything with those programs because I have so much on my plate as is with trying to learn all this stuff for designing a course, but maybe one day I can try to learn this too.

Your right with CA being a fickle little you know what.
I have gray hairs already, but this program is adding more & more every time I used it..... LOL
