Withdraws have set in now.........:P
I haven't been able to play TW for many days now, and I missed playing the tournaments this last week too. Hopefully I will be on the TW bandwagon again soon if everything works when it gets here. For some reason my TW 2008 wouldn't read in my DVD drive, and only some of my other games would start. Not sure why this was happening, but I tried to cover all the potential problems by ordering a new DVD drive, new TW 2008 game, and I got TW 2006 too. If buying a new DVD & TW 08 game doesn't work, I guess it's a software problem, but under device manager it showed everything was working right so I don't know what else it could be besides the DVD drive or game DVD. Time will tell......... :O
Are there any known issues with XP & TW 2008 ? I've googled all kind of stuff this weekend & read until my eyes hunt, but I just couldn't find a fix for what I had going on. At least I learned a few more things about computers, but no fix...... :(
Went ahead & starting watching the turorials so I'll be ahead of the game for when TW 2006 gets here. I want to thanks those who took their time to make those tutorials because they are going to be so helpful when I start trying to design courses.
Wanting TW back, Squirrely

I just tried that, and all the test passed, and it said no problems found in the boxes on the bottom.. Thanks for the PC tip.........
I'm no the best with computers, but I've come a long way since I started using a PC three years or so ago. I didn't know jack back then, but I still have much more to learn, and this course designing will be good for me. Hoping to learn even more useful stuff on a PC while trying to design.

| I have the same problem with the cd drive in my pc. It just won't read cd's or dvd's anymore, except those for microsoft programs. It never really bothered me because I mostly use my external dvd machine, but if there's a fix for it, I'd really appreciate any help. |

It wouldnt surprise me if a windows update put something on our PC that only makes it play their stuff.........hehehe Any monopoly is bad for us...... :P
I have played many PC games since I started PC gaming, and when I was goggling for a fix this last week. This Star-force or Securecom stuff came up, and its suppose to keep people from pirating games, I think. From some of the things I was reading, it seems some people believe these things can mess up your DVD drive overtime. Is this true?
I believe I have downloaded games with this software on my PC, and I sure hope that isnt what is going on. I believe you cant remove it from your PC once its on it, but not completing sure, I need to read much more info on the subject to find out what this software exactly is.

| Both of those are anti pirate software. They both check to make sure the disc that is in your drive is encoded with a special serial like number to make sure it is not a pirate copy, but a legitimate disc that the software was published on. I have not really heard that they damage the drive, but I have seen the software fail many times where the games will not work. Downloaded games do not use this as it is disc protection software. Downloaded games usually use some other validation for anti piracy. TW08 on DVD uses Securerom. You can purchase TW08 online from the EA Store sand play it without the disc, but you will need the EA Downloader running and connected to the internet when starting the game. |

OK Thanks for the info.
I would have gotten a downloaded copy of TW 2008 this time around if we could use it for online tours. I have a Steam account(Love HL series) that I like using, but I also like having those cool boxes that come with DVD PC games.
Just checked the tracking for my DVD drive from Newegg, and it is out for delivery today.....woooo hoooooo If that doesn't work, I hope the new TW 2008 game I just bought this week works.......... Crossing fingers..................
