I was one of many who attended the final round of the Quail Hollow Championship yesterday, in Charlotte. Below are a few little treasures in the form of pictures I was able to take of Tiger Enjoy...

Last but not least...I was able to steal one last picture of Tiger as he came off the 18th green, on his way to the clubhouse...what a day!

Looks like you had a great day. I will always remember my chance to see the US Open in Tulsa 2001 at Southern Hills. My son and I had tickets for both Saturday and Sunday. We planted ourselves in bleacher seats where we could see almost 4 holes at a time. It was a great two days, and we saw all of the players. Congrats on having a terrific time.

Thanks guys! Here is one last momento from the tourney. As the Sunday crowds exited Quail Hollow, I patiently waited behind the CBS tower on the 18th green until 6:20 PM. Myself with 2 other guys were back there and low and behold here came Nick Faldo out of the tower first. I got him to sign my Carolina hat I was wearing and he signed the old issues of Sports Illustrated the other guys had in blue Sharpie. Then 3 minutes later, here came the guy I wanted to see most, Jim Nantz. He was a super nice guy, took the time to sign my hat and since he calls most of the major sports events on CBS, I asked him what he thought about my Carolina Tarheels...he said..."We (CBS) brought you a National Championship didn't we"? I replied, yes sir you did. I also shook his hand and looked him directly in the eye and I told him CBS Sports and golf would never be the same without you. I also told him that he and Pat Summerall were the best two announcers in sports. I think he wasn't expecting someone to make such a big deal out of the situation, but you never know when you'll get to meet someone like these two again.

I would love to go to a tournament one day, and I bet you had a blast. That would be something special to be that close to the Pros like in those pictures.........

Maybe one day, my wife & I will go see The Players Championship @ Sawgrass since it's not to far from where we live...........

Thanks Otto. I know alot of you may have been to a PGA tournament with all the big names, but for those of you who haven't...you don't know what you are missing. This was my third trip to this tournament. I was there the first year which was 2003, then Tiger made his first appearance in 2004, I saw him then and again this year. I went with a buddy of mine, we paid $60.00 each for the tickets. The face on final round ticket was $50.00. Knowing what I was going to see and be apart of, that was a monumental STEAL! For those of you who are "contemplating" on wether or not to go to an event like this, it's worth EVERY DIME! It's an experience each golf fanatic needs to be apart of at least once, and you'll remember it the rest of your life.

Man, reading the above really makes me want to go to tournament one day, and My wife & I talked about trying to go to a future TPC Sawgrass or Bay Hill round last night. That would be so cool to hang around watching the 17th hole on Sawgrass for part of the day. My wife loves to watch me play TW 2008 & watch tournaments on TV with me, so this would be a good experience for us both. She loves Tiger, and it would a special moment for her & me to meet or see Tiger Woods. I have a few favorites Pros I like, but just seeing all those PGA pros play would be something special, and from reading your post you can tell you loved every minute of your time there. We are huge Jacksonville Jaguars football fans, and we went to 3 of their home playoffs games. We hung around afterwards to get autographs outsides the Stadium, and that was something special that day.
I bet it's just the same feeling at a PGA tournament seeing all the PGA pros.......... :)

Question:
Can a electric wheelchair get around OK at these tour events?
I could call to find out how much wheelchair accessibility there is at these PGA tour events, but not to sure who I would call for that kind of info. Guess the tour office itself maybe, and I'm guessing no matter what the PGA tour does for wheelchair accessibility. The course layout itself would be the worse enemy with getting around in a wheelchair on some courses.

You can get around in a wheelchair just as good as anyone walking. At this tournament this past weekend, I think every soccer mom had their baby strollers out...but NO baby in the stroller! Kinda got a little peeved at that, because they were merely in the way with their strollers, I guess the kids were off doing something else. But, for the most part, you could easily stay on the cart paths and everyone is pretty well mannered, even though there were close to 40,000 on Sunday at this event. Fans of this game are very respectable when it comes to handicap accessibility. Even though I didnt personally see anyone on the course in a wheelchair, doesnt mean there wasnt anyone. I would call the venue ahead of time just to see how they handle these situations. But dont let that stop you from getting out there! Good luck...keep us posted.

They make provisions for people with accessibility needs. Handicap parking, spots in the galleries(usually a handicap row in the grandstands). I have been to 2 PGA Majors and many Champions Tour events and have tickets to the 09 PGA @ Hazeltine. Wheelchair should be just fine.
