I am new here, so when downloading a course I pay attention to the course ratings. Because there are so many great designers, and great courses, I am limiting myself to any course rated 4 or above. My question is: Am I missing out on some really great courses that may be under rated, or some that have no rating at all? Just curious, because I was considering Sahalee, but not a single rating has been provided. I am not on a high speed connection (;laptop aircard) and therefore am more selective.

Also want to give a Thanks to all of the designers and archtects out that there are have provided some great courses. I have had the opportunity to play some of those that I have in real life and they bring back some great memories. Of course, if you are a hacker like me, not all of the memories are great...LOL.

One word.. Hell yes you are missing out on some really good courses.

I always try to give a course a look, no matter what the ratings or the comments.

These can sometimes be deceiving. I really like it when designers put up screenshots of their course, that helps a lot. But you shouldn't always go by the ratings. IMO

I would strongly suggest that you don't solely base your downloads off of the course ratings. Unfortunately some architects and their friends use the ratings system to bump particular courses up and tear others down without providing any reasoning behind their ratings.

My suggestion would be to:

1) Find courses by architects that you like and download their courses whenever they are released.

2) Look at the course comments where players have actually taken the time to provide feedback on courses. These comments will be much more valuable than the rating.

you can also search for courses played in tournaments on EASO
click on the Leaderboards tab up top or copy/paste this:
http://www.leaderboards.coursedownloads.com/

gives some indication of how often the course is played, conditions, levels etc

Thanks for the replies. I figured the answer would be yes, but wanted to get opinions of those that have been here longer. I have been reading the Comments as well and will start looking at the screen shots.

I like to download by comments and screenshots myself. Also into consideration the designer, the type of course, etc.

Also, I would sure like it if the people who are messing with the ratings system, could be caught.

There may not be a way, but it's people like that, that ruin it for everyone!!

I know most of us have integrity.
