I'm new to all this online stuff, and had to go play matchplay online to get tokens for the tour this week, and was wondering what I shouldn't do while online playing with others. Any info or advice would be great so I don't do something wrong.........
Plus it seems while I was online playing my second match ever today. My PC got real hot all the sudden & shut down during the match, and this has never happened before while playng tiger woods 08. Does playing online cause more heat in my PC?
My specs if needed: Dell E520 Core2duo 6300 @ 1.86Ghz 2 GB ram @ 667Mhz 8800 GT 512mb 320 Gb HD Got a front fan that blows at higher speeds when CPU gets above 50%, and my 8800GT is 50c underload & 38c idle......
Thanks Squirrely

What not to do- Tell the other player they are crap!
Seriously just be polite and enjoy it. It's customary to wish them good luck at the start and congratulate a good shot. Some people like to chat more and some just concentrate on the golf. The worse ones are those that don't reciprocate the congrats and all you get is GG(good game) at the end. If that happens I go into silent mode as well but I don't find it enjoyable.
With regards to your tech question sorry i cant help you with that one.
P.S. I thought this was an interesting question and was surprised it hasn't been brought up before. Anybody else got any thoughts? |

Hey Squirrely...
If you just have one fan, I would suggest installing at least one more, I have 3 in my case (not including the power supply and cpu) If nothing else, I have been known to take the side panel off to let the air get to it (just need to have some of the canned air around, and keep the dust blown out of it regularly...) Although I have not noticed any hotter performance while playing on line...
One thing I have noticed is the 'Ready Play'... Make sure you have it turned off (Set to 'NEVER' in the game options... This will let you see the shots in the order they should be, just like real golf, otherwise, you will not know what the other players are talking about, and they will be confused as well. It makes for a much nicer experience.
As kieronbwfc said, congratulate the good shots (not necessary to comment on EVERY shot...) If someone gives you a nd/gs/etc..., a simple t or ty means a lot....and just be polite... :) |

Hello, kieronbwfc
Lots of my friends would not go EASO, cos they do not want to be enbarrassed with the language. If your opponent happens to be a Japanese, do not get him wrong, please.
I would not go EASO, cos I read there are so many cheaters around. I am looking forward to joining the tourney of this site, when TW10 is out. |

Hello, kieronbwfc Yes, Japanese players can join the English EASO, in fact, there is no Jap EASO. There are only twenty or so who plays TW series in my country, I assume, that is why you hardly come across any Japanese on EASO.
Thanks for your kind words to my English. I lived in your country for a couple of years when I was young, but after twenty years, the half of my English has gone somewhere.lol
I also would like to thank Squirrely for bringing up this topic, otherwise I could never know the abbreviations jbcalg mentioned. Thanks, jbcalg. |

Cool beans Thanks for all the abbreviations, and since I haven't text anyone ever or used online stuff. This helps alot, and when I first got online I didn't even know what LMAO meant.......:P
I'm capable of learning anything, but just like anything else. Experience is crucial to being comfortable in any situation. Had a feeling gd meant good drive, but wasn't sure until it was put in this thread. Boy, thanks again for the info, and now I won't feel so lost online. My second time playing on EASO, it seemed like one of the players was getting upset about how long we were taking to do our shots, but I think he just was used to playing with people who just shoot without much thought or he/she was just a prick. I'm new so it's takes a bit of time to get things right in this game....

All the abreviations remind me of a friend of mine (who will remain nameless to preserve his dignity).
While he was playing online he came across "LOL" for the first time and assumed it meant Lots Of Luck. So whenever an opponent ended up in rough, bunker or water he would say LOL. Didn't go down too well with some opponents..... |
