I have recently gotten my neighbor interested in playing TW08, we both play on my box for now.

We are looking at doing a custom build for him, and I would like a little input from some of the guru's around here. The box will be used mainly for playing TW08, and some web surfing.

Any suggestions for MB, graphics, etc. would be appreciated, baring in mind we want a balance of cost and performance for the game. Would like it to be capable of TW2010 as well.

Thanks to all the course architects here, you make the game enjoyable!

Motherboard:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813128372 Gigabyte EP45-UD3L... unless you want to use your hard drive(s) in RAID, in which case........http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813128368

Memory:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820146731 Mushkin $G ( 2x2G )

Windows (XP 32 or Vista32) won't utilize ALL of that memory, but it will help to have as much as it CAN use.

Processor:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819115037 Intel 8400 @ 3 Ghz.

Hard Drive:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822136319 This is a good amount of storage with a pretty fair speed. It's not a Raptor, but for the money, it's a better deal.

Video Card:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814102794 Sapphire Radeon HD 3850. It has a 256-bit memory interface. It's nowhere near top of the line, but a hell of a card for $65. If you want a very good card, try the 4870. Still, the 3850 should run the current game with all very high settings.

Power Supply:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817371024 This is the very best place in a build to invest heavily. Everything depends on a reliable power supply, and this one is the new gold standard..........here, have a read......http://www.jonnyguru.com/modules.php?name=NDReviews&op=Story&reid=142

Case:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811129043 Antec Twelve Hundred. Unfortunately, that power supply will only fit in one of 3 cases to date. This is one of them. On the up side, full towers are big enough that air cooling is plenty for your components.

Don't forget....... you'll need an operating system, as well..

Good luck, Otto

Charlie..... admittedly, that power supply/ case combo is a bit "over the top". Here's another very good, but more modest , choice. It'll run everything he's gonna need for a few years.....

Power Supply :
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817139005 Corsair 650 Watt PSU

Case :
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811129021 Antec 900........ I have one of these, and it's plenty roomy. Cable management is not quite as easy with this as it would be with the 1200, but it's got plenty of air flow to keep things running nicely ( and the fans are adjustable ( also, check out the connections on the top front......).
