I really can't wait to play this course, PGAX Masters, but unfortunately every time I try to load the course all the grass and buildings are just black. The trees and sky are ok and so is the player but everything else is black. Any ideas?? I'm running a 3.2gig celeron processor with 3gigs of ram on a mach speed mobo with an intel 945g video chipset that has 128 mb of on board ram. I am currently running at 1280 x 1024 video resolution. Oh yeah, win xp home w/service pack 3. Thanks for any and all help.

Thanks, I was hoping I wouldn't have to go that route with the newer mother board I installed. If that is what it takes to keep playing this great game and these cool courses then that is what I will do. Thanks again.

Geno, what's your current video card? It might be that you have the wrong Augusta lib installed.......there is more than one.

Both ATI/Nvidia cards work very well for the game. You will find fans of both as due to the specific implementations of the Shader Model on the cards each has it's own set of pros and cons when it comes to rendering the 08 game.

J,

Curious what you mean by pros and cons when rendering TW08....I have had the nV 9800 GX2 as well as the ATI HD4870X2 I am using now and I can't say I see any differences except that the ATI card is noticeably faster at the same settings.....

They render grass blades differently for one. ATI will criss cross stock blades. Nividia will make them slanted. Water has different reflections the Nvidia tends to be darker with more depth and volume and ATI tends to have more of a shimmering/sparkling appearance. ATI will handle stock long weed type roughs with typically higher framerates compared to a similar level Nvidia card. I see no reason other than personal preference to chose on over the other for the game though. They both make it look really good.

Yep, agreed with the grass rendering. I believe that the problem lies with custom shaders carried over from the previous versions or quite simply shader incompatiblity. Thanks for the clarification.

Tim, sure thing. It seems to be more pronounced in 08, but cannot tell for sure, as I did not have these newer cards in older versions. Both ATI and NVidia have their own unique way of handling the shaders . Neither follows the SM standard to a T.

Thanks everybody for the input. The new vid card is awesome compared to the chitty on board thing I had previously. All the issues with black grass and such have disappeared completely. Gots to go now so I can enjoy the game.
