Okay, flat out, I don't have what it takes to make a course. I just don't. There is one course that I used to play that was probably the most beautiful computer course I'd ever seen, it was Banff Springs (Alberta, Canada) for Links 2001.

For many long years I've hoped and prayed someone would make it. No one ever has. I own Tiger Woods 04-07 (& '99-00, but Links had my heart then), and I was wondering if some brave soul would take up the challenge of making this INCREDIBLY beautiful course.

It is a shot in the dark, I know, but you would have the love and admiration of a fellow computer golf player for, well, forever!!!

I never did buy 08 for TW (and we all, gag, know about 09) because you could not use the career editor in it. That was a major bonus for 06 & 07, I could not imagine playing Tiger Woods golf again without that.

So, anything from 04-07 I could do, obviously I think 07 will look the best. I LOVE that course, and hope someone can make Banff Springs and do it justice.

I also remember that Covered Bridge course from Links 2001 being very nice. Not sure if it was real or fantasy, but I remember liking the "woodsy" feel to it. From Tiger Woods, I think Sahalee is my favorite (from 04). A lot like I remember Covered Bridge being, but alas, no bridges or covers.

I MISS BANFF SPRINGS!!!

Have mercy, o' ye great designers, have mercy on a lost soul...

I now what you mean. Their was conversion program for the Links Courses to update them, but never saw it for TW......I asked the same question in another thread, maybe we can have better luck here.....fun course and if "designed"/reproduced for TW it would be one of the more challenging courses for anyone to play......so to all the designers out there, please hear our plea and give it a shot, not only would the two of us would be immensely grateful, but many of those who have played Links would also apprciate though they may not say so at this time.............

i have most of the pictures and the layout of it. Biggest problem with Banff that I found is gettin Mt Rundle in the right position especially for the Devils Cauldron. Dont think it would be overly difficult to build. I do however have Silvertip which I designed in PGA onboard. Just not sure how true it is to the elevations. But I too would love to see Banff bought to life by our talented designers.

You can convert PGA 2000 course to TW ONLY if you have the original TCA (Course Architect File) It requires replanting and changing the textures but can be done. In 2002 Headgate had an option to convert TW99-01 courses but the resulting course was not good to say the least, so it was dropped from all previous versions. As for converting courses from 2002 all the way to 08. Converting Links courses to TW08 99% not possible, Ill leave the 1% for some type of miracle. Converting JN course again 99% imposible.

2002 - 2004 convert fine
2004 - 2006 work fine
2007 - 2008 work fine

you can take a 2002 course and might get lucky and get it to work on 08, BUT the game has changed so much that the resulting course will have extremely bright textures and no pano.

Hope this answered your question.

Um, it wasn't really a question. I was begging wholeheartedly for an awesome designer to take up the challenge of making this course.

I'll beg again. PLEASE, this course is so beautiful. If anyone is looking for a project to do, please make Banff Springs.

I looked at this course maybe a year or two ago and I just didn't think there was enough good info to do it justice. Looking at Google Earth now, the imagery is a bit better, but nothing like the quality that I generally like to use. The info on the course website is still pretty useless.

Like Roger, I too looked at the info available and wasn't too impressed with the websites there. The overhead imagery was acceptable but not really any good ground level photos. I too like the links designs and maybe more inclined to do a different one than that one. Covered Bridge possibly, Entrada would be another I like and Chateau Whistler. It will be probably a minimum of 4 months though before I even start on any new projects. My last major one already underway is Hazeltine National for the 2009 PGA. Banff Springs just didn't really do it for me, even though it is a very nice resort course.

I have a thought... Every year TWC does a community project. How about we do a CS community project for Banff I know it is a bit of work orchestrating everyone to do 18 real holes. If we could get TBM to get us a forum and maybe a special upload section or something like that I would be in favor of working on it and teaming up with Roger if he is interested. It is a thought. I know I dont have time to do a full course but would like to participate. I can do a layout from the TA. Lets see what transpires. We have plenty of experienced and up & coming designers here and I know many of the newer ones have expressed interest in working on a real one.

I'd like to get involved, making a real course is more or less a closed book for me atm, and I'd love to learn more.

Please, please, don't be mad at me for asking this (I started this thread...I love Banff so much) but if it does get made as a community project, please make it for TW07. I never bought 08, you couldn't use the career editor and from what I heard the importing of courses was very nighmare-ish.

I would absolutely die if this course was made, and I couldn't play it.

I would be happy to help out, but it would have to be for TW08. Sunjah, you can find TW08 real cheap these days and it is far superior to TW07.

Excellent Roger, Yes would have to be for the 08 version. You can buy it for 9.99 on EA Downloader, and get it inexpensive from many other sources as well. If you do not want to play the 08 version, you can install all 14 stock libraries, whatever stock courses you like and put them into 07 and play there. This course when done will run ion 07, but you will need to have the stock 08 libraries that will be used into 07.

Now if we can get TBM to get us a forum, we should be all set.

You've got to be kidding. I was the one who started this thread and asked if someone could do this, now it will be done for the one game I don't have. I do not want 08. You cannot use the custom career. It is not a superior product, it actually took steps backwards. (I don't care if I can find it for $0.00, I don't want it. I made that very clear in the original post.)

Is there anyone who can do it for ANY TW 04-07 (such as the original post asked)?

Well I guess there is always the option of doing it yourself then. Personally I thought it was quite a gracious offer for those to donate the time to do it. If that does not justify getting the game, even if it is just to use the libraries, i would have to say you are on your own. just like EA, not working on previous versions, we have moved on to the current version, just like I am sure most of us will once TW10 comes out if we can do customs for that. Many thanks for the gracious support

How can you say it is not a superior product if you have not ever played the game.

Sunjah, as Jim mentioned you can still play the 08 courses on TW07. All you need is the stock libraries that come with the 08 game. As long as you purchase the game to get the 08 stock libraries, you will be able to play it on 07 no problem.

That's an awesome hotel. Looks like something from Jimi's mind lol.
