Is this going the same way as 09, or have EA seen the light and returned to producing certain sports orientated games for PC again.... :) ???

As youre no doubt aware, hes the programmer for the console versions. I would guess he has no say in what happens as far as the PC goes. My feeling is that if the game ever makes it back to the PC, well get a ported version of the console game. And after playing the Xbox 360 game, I have to say it wouldnt be worth purchasing. The target audience for the console game is obviously young people, not serious golf affectionados.

Since Tiburon has been the developers at least and maybe even before that they have been PS2 ports, but I know the last two versions have been. I doubt we will ever see another version. If we were to get a 2010 they would be in the build stages already. January time frame is always when the upcoming version was getting into full swing. It would be nice, but there is too much profit loss in this platform, and unless they find a solution to improve profitability, especially in the current economy, I would have to say don't hold your breath.

One would think that in the current economic climate, with many game type stores closing down and going into administration, that the ability to distribute new games via the internet, would put an OEM in a position of strength and therefore, any mode of gaming that is suited to that type of distribution, PC obviously included, would be the way to ride out the current storm.

That would be true, if EA could provide decent downloadability ( yeah, I coined that word :-P ). We'veeen far too many problems with the d'l version of the game over at the EA forums.

1. You can continue to make this claim all you like, but it isn't and has never been the case. The PC version has been the same engine since TW2002-2003 and neither of those were PS2 ports.

2. My sources indicate differently.

3. How do you know it isn't already?

4. Exactly why there was no TW09 for PC because it was NOT a port of the PS2 or any other console. EA is working on TW 10 for PC as we speak. I don't have any details to share due to the recent NDA I just signed this past weekend, but when there are details I can share, I will.

The reason I know that the latest have been ports is I was involved in an developer position interview and application process with Tiburon for 08 version until the qualifications I had for porting from console versions to PC based code came up. I had zero desire to work on porting so I declined to carry the application process any further.

The engine cam remain the same this has zero outcome on where the source code for the pc game itself originates from. Do you think these game studios have a seperate code base for each platform? The fork with variations for each platform but in the end the C computer language is all the same. Each processor platform will have variations in some instructions but can all be originated from the same starting point.

I sure hope I am wrong in that we will not see another version. It sure seems odd that there are blogs and customer feedback requests for the consoles, etc, but not one bit of info on the PC platform as yet. I would really like to see another PC version. Electronic Arts unfortunately hasn't done much in the last year and a half to do anything to lessen the doubt. Dropping all EA SPorts titles except for FIFA and NHL, as well as basically neglecting the PC platform in other genres as well.

TW08 shared some PS2 parts to the interface (;Main Menu). There is nothing else in TW08 PC code that is ported from the PS2. Completely different engines and codebase. I know this because Headgate Studios was still involved in TW08 (;to a much lesser degree than in past versions). I also know this because I have seen both TW08 for PC and PS2 and there is NOTHING comparable in their game engines or rendering code. The PC version has always maintained a different codebase than the console versions. This cannot be disputed.

I really dont care what you were told at Tiburon as it was plainly obvious that they were focused strictly on the console versions for TW08. And TW08 is almost identical to TW03-07 in gameplay, rendering code, etc.

the fact is Tim (divotmaker) knows more about the TW series than anyone else, from the inside as a beta tester and as part of the development team,he also has personal contact with the producer`s.I dont know of any reason to doubt what he says.

Maybe you should understand the history behind a situation before making assumptions. The person I was responding to has stated the same thing in past threads and I continue to debunk his statements because they are categorically misinformative. I think that sums it up.....

I do know the history chum...you have shot me down in a similar way before. I know Jim very well too.

ok so I realise it has been said before that DM knows more than anyone else thats fine...good for him. personally however, I dont care for the way he shouts about it but maybe hes just that sort of character. Needs to puff out his chest and all that.

The reason I think hes too aggressive is because Jim did indeed get told by the horses mouth so to speak, one thing and DM refutes it as true. Now, if you were told something by an OEM and then heard contrary by say, a contract consultant...who the heck would you want to believe? Someone who namedrops NDAs into the mix because maybe it will sound like he has better credentials or someone who actually works for the company in question?

Ive been shot down before by DM and his loyal buddies (;not aimed at carn btw) but I will stand my ground here....his posts now and in the past seemed to me, to be aggressive and come across as hes the almighty one, we should be bloomin honoured he gives us his presence. Not a good voice of EA IMHO. Better to actually say nothing unless one actually does have the authority to speak on behalf of EA regarding these matters and to correct people.

JMHO and Im not really bothered if its popular with the masses or not, because it is just that...MY opinion.

ZB,

When someone makes a claim about TW PC and I know for a fact it is wrong, I will make my point about it. If someone continues to make said claims and I know for a fact that said claims are wrong, I will continue to make my point about it so as to avoid confusion for others. Sometimes it takes a bit more expressiveness to get the point across. Would you rather misinformation to accumulate with TW PC users? If I were not sure of what I was posting, I would not respond. Period.

Your character assassination of me above is way off base as you are judging me simply by forum posts. How about I judge you simply by your attacks on me?

Each to their own DM, i have been critisised for worse lol but at the end of the day I have to concede we are only talking about an insifnificant thing called a pc game, nothing really important in the scale of things, so i will bow out of this one and leave it be. Its not important to me, neither are your opinions of me. C'est la vie.

I have not expressed any opinions of you, nor will I. However, I do agree that in the scheme of things, this is just a PC game that many users have a great deal of passion about.....

I wouldn't put too much faith in that, Boze. They link to an imaginary PC version for TW09 as well.

This is on the EA Store site. No info other than coming soon. Will have to wait and see if they deliver a PC platform. Hopefully they will http://eastore.ea.com/DRHM/servlet/ControllerServlet?Action=DisplayProductDetailsPage&SiteID=ea&Locale=en_US&productID=95015700
