Way back in May, Gunpowder had mentioned the Career Editor for TW06. Will that also work for TW08? I d/l the file and it looks interesting!

Also, perhaps a silly newbie question, but while in practice mode, just basically seeing and learing a course, how to do you check yardage, without moving your player?
Say I'm in the fairway, and I want to check yardage to front of green, not the pin. I can go the overhead, but when I can put the cursor down, it automatically moves my player.
Then I have to try and re-position my player in the exact spot to make the shot!!
I'm just new and I'm sure there's an easy solution, but I'm stumped, nothing in the manual!

The TW2006 Career Editor will not work with TW08.

As far as I know, there is no way to do what you are wanting to do while in Practice mode. As you have seen, if you click on the overhead, your player is automatically moved. I do not know of any way to change this.

I don't see a way to check yardage either, Rob. One possibility though: take one of the cameras that you don't use (the various number keys), and edit it so you get a useable overhead view of the green in relationship to the pin. You won't have exact yardage, but you'll be able to pretty much guess-timate how much green you have to work with.

Jeez, I'm 0-2 today with my questions!

I was hoping the Career Editor would work, I may have to "shop" online and see if I can
pick up TW06 for cheap, I'd love to try my hand at the Course Editor. Don't you just love how EA Sports always drops something good out of each subsequent release of their sports
game, just to entice you to buy the old versions too!
I'm ok with the yardage thing, luckily enough I leave huge divots so I can usually find where I was hitting from :)
Thanks for the replies, I'm pretty much new at this forum thing, and I still remember the "old" days, when you just had to suck it up, play the stock and live with your many questions!

I lucked out and purchased TW 06 and 07 new for under $13! :) Yup, 06 for the career editor and CA options, is a definate must-have addition of the series.

I've looked on line a little but I can't find anything "cheap" enough for me!
I'll keep looking and check out the "sale" bins at Wal-Mart :)

Like I said, I lucked out. I found TW 06, packaged along with NBA Live (and I don't play basketball games) for $9.99. And when the cashier rang it through, it came up as $2.99.

I also got a great deal on TW 08. The local Staples had it and all of EA's 08 sports games on sale for $9.99. And this was when I couldn't find it anywhere for less than $29. And when the cashier rang that through, his eyes bugged out and he said, "Boy, that's a great deal! Think I'll pick that up after work!" :)

Hey, if you live in the Mississauga area, I've got to go shopping with you!!

I didn't realize that Staples carried comp games, I'll have to stop by one and see what's there.
The EA Sports package is how I purchased TW08. It's a good thing I'm impressed with this
cuz I also purchased a MS XBox Wireless Controller to play the other ones and although it's listed in the "approved" controllers, I've since found out that it won't work with any of them!!!
I'm dying to try NHL08, I just have to fork out more money to buy a Logitech controller!!!
As I said, I'll keep looking around, I'm sure I won't get your deals, but I'm sure I'll find out cheap somewhere!!

Hey, if you live in the Mississauga area, Ive got to go shopping with you!!

I lived in the area for a few years and spent many, many hours stuck in traffic on Lakeshore. Now I live where I can drive into town on Saturday morning and see a dozen cars on the highway, tops. :)

FYI: I have NHL 09 for the Xbox 360 very good game, even if it only sorta resembles the way hockey is actually played. But I dont think the PC version is the same game. I believe its simply a port of the last-gen console version, which wasnt very good at all. Maybe check some reviews first.

EDIT: Oh-oh... found a few reviews of NHL 09 PC, and theyre all like this: http://reviews.cnet.com/pc-games/nhl-09-pc/4864-9696_7-33112608-1.html?tag=mncol;;uo

only way to get yardage on over head map is to play a custom game, or a lan game and obviously unless you are playing expert you will be given yardages to the pins as well. I always practice in LAN mode because its pretty close to the same yardages you can hit when playing online i.e about 75%
