well.. I have uninstalled TW06 and reinstalled it. Architect still will not open. CLsetup will not install 08 stock libraries. Started yesterday after I removed a nasty spyware that was driving me crazy. Computer runs fine now but cannot use the architect anymore. If i try to open up the file I was using and playing, the architect crashes. Unless there is some solution beyond my limited knowledge. I'm done.. just gonna play.

| You mentioned you were using the CLTool cloaking tool. How many libraries do you have installed in TW2006 for use in the architect? There is a limit to the number of libraries and if you have too many installed or uncloaked the CA will not open. Try opening CLTool and cloak all of the libraries. See if the CA will open after that. |

went to use the architect just to see if i could open up a different file that I created in PGA2000. It did open up. But it will not open the file I was working on. I believe it may have something to do with the fact that I was using 08 stock courses on it, and the clsetup will not reinstall those libraries into the cloaking tool. So i have no access to them, but it should still open it even without them shouldnt it? this other file has not TW libraries in it and it opens. So.. theres gotta be something with that file. If anyone has any interest at all in looking at it, I'd be glad to send it to you so you can try and see whats wrong with it. Out of ideas here.

PS.. the cloaking device only had 7 libraries in it. |

| If you have a course file that uses libraries that are not installed or cloaked, or for whatever the reason not accessible to the course architect, it will crash whenever you try to open the file. |

| Have you tried using the Course Utilities program that comes with TW2006 to install the libraries? You keep saying CLSetup won't install them. Why won't it? Are you getting some error when you try to install them? Are you zipping up the TCL libraries prior to trying to install them using CLSetup? |

| You will need to make sure they are not cloaked, I would then uninstall them with the Course Utilities that came with the 06 game, then reinstall them with course utilities as well. I do not use clsetup for any year so cannot day anything about the really except I have heard it is not friendly when it comes to unistalling |

CLSetup in previous years worked fine for uninstalling in normal download/install situations
where it gets glitchy is when files are located outside the default locations used by TW - you can add and use additional folders within the default folder structure
very well explained in the help file included each version
the auto install that the CA and LC does from their default or user defined locations can create problems when trying to get courses/libs used over to TW08
almost an extra step really zip up the course or library files from their storage/design folder then copy that over to the 08 course folder storage install as usual from there, just like you downloaded a course or library here

i really want to thank you all for your help here. I did get the libraries reinstalled using the course utility. That file loaded up just fine after that. God bless yas for sharing the helpful information. If sometime I can be of service with what limited knowledge I have, lemme know. I really do appreciate this group for all the help. Happy holidays to you all.

Hi gabagoo....
1. When you want to create TW07 custom course: You will have to use at least 1 TW07 stock library, this way your course will be classified as TW07 custom course.
No Course architect 07 (;CA07) in TW07, so you will have to use course architect 06. To install course architect 06 on your PC you will have to install TW06 game on your PC first. After that you will be able to install CA06. First it is good idea to add all TW07 stock libraries to TW06 game: go to path below: C:\Program Files\EA SPORTS\Tiger Woods PGA TOUR 07\Courses inside each TW07 stock course folder you will find the required stock library. Right click on library file...and copy and paste to desktop. When finished you will have all stock libraries on your desktop. Now install all TW07 stock libraries in TW06 game with CLsetup06. Now you will be able to use TW07 stock libraries to create TW07 course with CA06.
Adding Panos: Tw07 created panos will work in TW07 game: You can find panos in Library section TW07. Dont use Panos from previous years (;TW06, TW05, TW04 etc...), they will not show up very well in game. You will see TW07 Pano is floating in CA06(;and in TW06 game) but that is no problem, when course is compiled , pano will show up very nice in TW07 game.
Another great tool you can use is: Cloaking tool 06. With Cloaking tool you can cloak (;disable) libraries in CA06. CA06 can only handle 30 or 40 libraries, so when you have +30 libraries in TW06 game you will need the Cloaking Tool. Note: Tw07 stock libraries are very big sized files this year, so you will have to cloak a lot of libraries.
You can download CA06 + Cloaking tool06 on this site: Go to section: Utilities....TW06 section....Course design tools
Note: When you are using VISTA: You can t compile course with windows vista To compile your course you will have to use windows: XP
2. When you want to create TW08 custom course:
No Course architect 08 (;CA08) in TW08, so you will have to use course architect 06. To install course architect 06 on your PC you will have to install TW06 game on your PC first. After that you will be able to install CA06. First it is good idea to add all TW08 stock libraries to TW06 game: You will have to use at least 1 TW08 stock library, and this way your course will be classified as TW08 custom course. go to path below: C:\Program Files\EA SPORTS\Tiger Woods PGA TOUR 08\Courses inside each TW08 stock course folder you will find the required stock library. Right click on library file...and copy and paste to desktop. When finished you will have 14 stock libraries on your desktop. Now install all TW08 stock libraries in TW06 game with CLsetup06. Now you will be able to use TW08 stock libraries to create TW08 course with CA06. Please try to not use stock libraries from previous years (;especially from 07 since we cannot host 07 libraries until EA gives permission for us to do so).
Adding Panos: Tw07 and TW08 created panos will work in TW08 game: You can find panos in Library section TW07and TW08. Dont use Panos from previous years (;TW06, TW05, TW04 etc...), they will not show up very well in game. You will see TW07 Pano is floating in CA06(;and in TW06 game) but that is no problem, when course is compiled , pano will show up very nice in TW08 game.
Another great tool you can use is: Cloaking tool 06. With Cloaking tool you can cloak (;disable) libraries in CA06. (;CA06 can only handle 30 or 40 libraries, so when you have +30 libraries in TW06 game you will need the Cloaking Tool. Note: Tw08 stock libraries are very big sized files this year, so you will have to cloak a lot of libraries.
IMPORTANT: A new change this year is how courses are selected from within the game. All courses will now REQUIRE a logo.dds file to be present. To know how logos look in TW08 game, you can go to TW08 stock course folder, and inside you will find Logo.dds file. You can copy logo.dds file of TW08 stock course, edit the file and add it later in your TW08 custom course. You will also have to add a text file. (;required)
Also the splash screen logo has changed in size again this year. Please upload splash file in.TGA format (;targa), when splash is uploaded as .dds format CLsetup will give error message. In section: Utilities....you can download TW08 splash+logo template. Flag files remain the same as in the past and all old flags and flag templates should work with no problem.
You can download CA06 + Cloaking tool06 on this site: Go to section: Utilities....TW06 section....Course design tools
Note: When you are using VISTA: You can t compile course with windows vista To compile your course you will have to use windows: XP |

one more thing bro. Are the logos and flags created using paint.net or a different program. I try to look at the .dds files and cant open them so I must be missing program somewhere.
Again, Thank you so much for your help.

any image editing/creation program that can save as .dds and .tga as those 2 file formats are the required ones per Guns post above
photoshop, PSP, Paint.net all handle those formats you may also need .dds plug-ins for some of those programs
Forums have a lot of information http://www.coursedownloads.com/forum/topics.asp?forum=1 |
