| I've played TW since 04. I just got 08 and am about to give it up. I can't get my yardage on every shot. I installed the small print yardage text and I don't change cameras during play but it still won't always give me the yardage. No matter what the camera is set to sometimes it will use the fixed camera, and when it does it won't give me the yardage. I hate to go back to 06 and 07 but I play expert and can't play well without my yardage. Any help appreciated, thanks. |

| The shot distance meter that gives a running display of your shot yardage - TW's original is in large numbers, this file reduces it - got the file here, don't remember the name. That's what doesn't display on many shots and why I don't know my yardage, because 08 doesn't show the yardage after the shot like previous TW's. |

| even if it does not work every shot you still have the distance to the hole on the taskbar at the bottom of the screen,I`m not sure how the shot distance counter can tell or help to know the distance to the hole,it could help on a straight hole but what if its a dogleg? |

| not to belabor the point, Carl, but ............ do you have that luxury in real life???? If you're playing expert, I'd assume that you want a more "real-life" experience. |

mcbruce made the small text yardage counter
it works as well as the EA original - sporadically (that's the game glitch, not mcbruce's)
and it only tells you how far it went, not how far is left - the yardage icon on the menu bar tells you that or click on your ball on the OH (overhead map, it shows various data from tee, to pin etc, just like always ('O' key toggles it on or off) |

| My experience is that if you use your "E" key before a shot, that the yardage meter will not show on that shot. |

| If you use any of the camera shortcut keys ie 1 to 9 before you play a shot the yardage and lie text will not show. |

What I want is how far I hit the ball. In expert, it doesn't tell you the yardage for each club. You can set to novice and then write it down or memorize it, but I prefer the distance hit information. Also, when it isn't working, it's because the camera angle stays "fixed" even though I have it set to "auto" or "ball cam". Did they change this in 08? In other versions it would always show the camera you set. This is also a problem because I need to learn how wind and mishits affect the ball by watching it in fight. Maybe I'm just spoiled, but it's very irritating for them to change this. When the camera stays "fixed" you just see the avatar's back and a tiny little ball that usually disappears. This may be more realistic, but this is a game and it's much more fun to fly along with the ball.

I have that. I almost quit because of the size of the text, which obscures the screen. Prior versions just gave you the distance hit after the shot was over, which I wish this one did. The small text is acceptable, but very distracting and still ruins the view somewhat. If the graphics in 08 werent so good, I would quit now, but I will probably play it for awhile, then go back to 06 and 07. Do you know if 09 is the same? If so, I wont bother with it. Thanks. |

Carlko, you can get rid of the text and check the drive distance after you've tee'd off (as long as you find the fairway) by using the menu in the top left hand corner of the screen where your score is shown as default. Re the ball-cam camera view, you can always press 5 for ballcam. |

My personal rule for putting: If it looks straight, shoot it straight- 7 times out of 10, itll go in. However if there is any contour at all- screw it, itll be a 2 putt Par :D |
