| screens in regular game are very slow to change between shots. Anyone have any ideas as to what is causing this delay. this seemed to start happening after loading quite a few custom courses. I am running a P4 3.2ghz with XP Pro, and 2 gigs of mem and the c:\ drive has rounghly 163 gigs of free space. Hoping you can help me. everything running just fine...online play is great....just regular game play screens are very slow to change between shots |

| those specs are fine but the problem may be your video card, what do you have? but if plays well online maybe not |

"It sounds like you are experiencing one of the common bugs in TW08. There is a fix called the Confidence Folder fix.
When you played some courses you will see the loading times between holes are increasing, the game will become slower and slower.
Do next steps to solve the problem:
1) On desktop you will see the folder My Documents. Open this folder.
2) Inside look for Tiger Woods PGA Tour 2008. Open this folder and then open the folder Career
3) Inside Career open the folder Players. Inside this folder, look for your playersname folder and open it.
4) Open the folder Confidence.
5) Inside you will find these files: Hole Type.tcn and Shot Type.tcn. delete both files.
6) Important step here! Restart the TW08 game and play 1 hole on any course, then close TW08 game.
7) Go back to same Confidence folder and you will see both files are regenerated: but now they are very small in size. Now right click the Hole Type.tcx file and choose Properties. Check the box next to Read Only and click OK. Now do the same thing for the Shot Type.tcn file." |

Thank you very much gentlemen for all of your help with this...it is greatly appreciated. the problem was solved by deleating the 2 confidence files in my player profile. The screens are back to changing in under 2 seconds again between shots. the video card I am running is in fact a NVIDIA GeForce 7600 GS with 512 meg on board so also knew it wasn't the prob. looks like the solution to this problem was to deleat the 2 confidence files.

Good to hear it fixed things. Now do the same again, but after deleting the files, play a quick game, then go back and set them to read-only. (Use explorer, find the files, right-click and select read only).
This way they will not grow to ridiculous sizes again! |
