It will always pop up twice before it allows me to actually log in..

I also use Firefox and find the RSS feed to be quite useful, install it on to your bookmarks toolbar and one click shows you a list of the most recent course releases!

Though I also have the 'dual' login prompt. Just click on 'Login' on the top menu bar and login from there.
