Hello All,
First off, I would like to thank Jeff for allowing me to post this here. And I hope that we can work together in the future, as it stands right now, the PC future of our game looks bleak!
As the new owner of twgtour.com, I am proud to announce that we are hosting "The TWGT CUP," our version of the Ryder Cup, with the final two teams playing the same games on the same course as the Ryder Cup - Valhalla Golf Club.
Can your club field a team of 12 to 15 players? Do you think you can survive scratch play against the best Tiger Woods PGA Golf Tour 2008 players? If so, sign your team and roster up. The first round, depending on the number of teams, will start on September 3. However, if clubs need more time to get their rosters in order, I can push back the start of the tournament.
The Rules & Format are now available in the link "The TWGT Cup" on the left hand side of the Web site.
Basically, we are looking for no more than 24 teams, and will be holding 6-game single-elimination rounds using the Alternative Shot Match Play format. All elimination rounds will be played at the Lords Valley Country Club, a fantasy course that truly tests a player's shotmaking skills.
After a round of six games is played, the winners will move on to the next level. In the semi-final level, the top 4 of the remaining 6 teams (if we get all 24 teams) will go on. This will be determined by adding all the cumulative points from all elimination rounds.
Our Tour Schedule Page has also been updated, showing the elimination and the final rounds, including playing conditions.
All play will be either True Swing or 3-Click at the INTERMEDIATE Level of play. After talking with many players, most players who play NOVICE on EASO have impressive ADVANCED records. And many of the ADVANCED players we talked to said INTERMEDIATE level would be a good compromise.
As teams sign up, I will be contacting the team captains with more information on scheduling. Also, since this site is for fun, every captain is a member of the Board of Directors. So each voice has an equal chance to be heard.
And the best news is that it is FREE to sign up and play - both in the tournament and our 2009 league season.
And to those of you who are following our progress, for our 2009 Season, I am also looking for clubs and teams. Like football or baseball, clubs play each other head-to-head in various games during the year, and at the end, depending on how you, the teams decide, we will either hold playoffs or play a single elimination brackets to determine the league champions.
TWGTour.com is where clubs and teams compete against one another, with a season-ending showdown.
As the new owner of the Web site, I have noticed there was no venue for clubs to play against other clubs in a structured format. All play will be using Tiger Woods PGA Tour 2008.
So if you are a club manager, or can come up with a team of 12 to 15 players, I have a league for you. If your club has more than 15 members, you can split your club up into two teams or more teams. If you do not have enough players, you can also join forces with other clubs.
And each club or team will have a seat at the board of director's table, making the league "your league." Although I will come up with an initial format for play, the board of directors may change the way the league runs (only exception is if it requires extensive programming, then it will take some time to implement the changes).
Issues the board will address are playing levels, whether to handicap or not, etc. for the 2009 season. Most of the games will be match play, and the captain of each club will be responsible for the strategies in pairing his players based on the opponent they are up against.
I hope to that we can interest many of you and answer the question - who has the best club!
George McGinn CDT Tour Player & owner TWGTour.com
PS: some notices will also go out to many of the captains of clubs with 12 or more players. If you are on one of these clubs, let your captain know that there is now a league for club play.
Thanks again to Course Downloads for allowing me to post this. |
