I'm relatively new, but not totally stupid. I finally figured out that finishing a round in a tournament (not online - just me) and then going into the TEAM competition do play would mark the remaining rounds of that tournament as skipped. That blew away this year for my fictional golfer(and a shot at the Ryder Cup the game has a version of). So I took this knowledge and happily skipped off to start next year. I missed the equivalent of the Masters (1st major) because when finished for the evening (I had finished 2 rounds of the tournament), I got back to the menu normally, and exited the game - it skipped the last two rounds of the tourney - have no idea why nor do I know how to recover. Initial response from this board indicated there was no way. Well, it just happened again - leading after 2 rounds of the US OPEN tourney - finished for the night at the end of second round, completed everything and came back in today to find the rest of the tourney skipped. I cannot play the skipped rounds, but if I move on, I get a message telling me I am in the middle of a multi-round tournament and I will lose my progress if I move on. Wish I'd get that message when I could actually do something about it. This is getting pretty frustrating - is there a patch or something I should be on? I use TW07 because that's all my computer can handle. Guess I could keep my golfer's expertise and wipe out the tournament record somehow and start over - but what's the point when this happens repeatedly? I must emphasize that when I finish a round, I do everything except save the game - there's no need to. It's supposed to keep my progress for me, and usually does. But when it doesn't - UGH!!! Anyone have any suggestions ? Thanks |

Two things: Someone else was having an issue with this a couple of weeks ago, and the suggestion from someone here was to just go ahead and elect to play those rounds. You don't skip the tourney if you do, apparently.
The other thing is I always save a backup copy of my Tour Mode progress after every tourney, in case something like this happens. Your player's Tour Mode files are located in your My Documents / TW 08 folder. |

Good thought about saving the tour mode files after each round - that would prevent this, although it is a bit of a pain. As far as completing the tournament goes, I don't always have time to complete four rounds of golf when I sit down at the computer. That's the only sure fire way to make it work it seems.
There are some areas of this game that are not all that user friendly. Complications installing courses and having to copy your files after every round is a bit much to require I think. Would cause the average 17 year old to leave and never come back. Just a gripe - nothing you guys can do about it. This is a great game, but I'm having trouble getting used to the extra's you have to do to have a great experience with it. Still haven't mustered up the courage to install extra courses since trying Augusta blew my config (or I blew my config)- not accusing, but I'm no novice with computer skills. Thanks |

NEWTRI00, installing courses couldn't be easier with all the great utilities people here have come up with. I was weary at first, but it's a snap once you figure it out, really. And installing 08 courses are even easier -- a one-click procedure. I'd suggest you consider upgrading to 08 for that reason plus the fact it's simply the better game all-round. |
