| I recently used cCleaner.com to clean up my computer. It erased my downloaded course names, but the courses are still in my hard drive. Im using TW2007 and if I play offline all the courses are there. When I go online, if someone brings up a course I have, I can join inhowever, I cannot create a matchup except for the courses that came with TW2007. Does anyone have any ideas on restoring my custom course names for the online mode. |

| I got my course names back. All I needed was to click "custom" and everything is there. |

| Isn't it funny that as soon as you post a problem you solve it. I've done the same thing many times :) |

The other thing I know is if you start your game from the TW08 CD, it will not load any custom courses.
You have to first start it from the icon on the desktop first. This also goes for the TW07 version as well.

sorry, that doesnt make sense and yes, i just tried it, all custom courses are playable offline and online when starting from the dvd instead of the desktop shortcut
when stock or custom courses and libraries are installed the location links are written to the windows registry it has nothing to do with how the game is started
the tw2008.exe on the dvd will look for the other required files in the default install location - not on the dvd (which has the majority of game files compressed in the 0compressed.zip file)
the original posters problem was a simple one - by default TW online is set to the stock courses selection click on the Custom tab and you get access to all custom courses you have installed |

That must be something with your system. I have started my game directly from the DVD drive many times and the custom courses have always been in the game. |

I will have to check something, because I just now put the DVD in, a box came up and I clicked "play game" and it only gave me access to the courses the game came with.
Also, I bought by game from Amazon.com, so that should not matter.
But what may is that it is a registered game, came with a book and serial #, but I do no require the CD to run the game. I clicked on the ICON first, and remembered the CD was in my laptop. The game started without needed it.
So, did they make a change where the CD is not needed, but if you use the CD to play, only the courses on it are valid?

One other thing.
I used to have the Dowloadable version, which needed the EA Downloader.
I could not play in Clambakers, so I recently bought the CD version.
I tried to install the game, but it would not work. EA Support showed me how to remove everything from the registry, as after using the uninstall and reinstall from the DVD, it said the EA Link was missing. (That is what the EA Downloader is).
So, in editing the registry, my games work from the PC icon, I do not need the DVD when starting the game, and if I start the game from the DVD, only the stock courses are available.
Sounds pretty messed up. |

yes, it does sound messed up
it sounds like there are still remnants from the download version which allows you to play without the dvd in the drive
and the EA uninstall directions obviously didn't remove everything a good registry cleaner (regcleaner or ccleaner would help there)
normally, the dvd is required ... it doesn't make any difference whether you start from the shortcut, the install location file, or the dvd, ... and custom courses are always available

| It would sound to me that the downloaded version is still installed on your computer, which is why the DVD will not install. |

I would buy that, except that the people over at the Clambaker's Tour said their program (CBLauncher) which records every stroke in a tournament played on your machine only works with the DVD version.
I was able, once I did what I did, get this program to now work and finished by qualification.
I think it is running the DVD and not the downloadable version (I even manually deleted all files, and with support's help, removed the registry files), but I do believe there is still a piece, maybe a file in SYSTEM32, that did not get overwritten when I installed from the DVD.
Anyway, it is working, I've yet to have any issues with the game crashing, and I can ask support why I am running without the DVD.
BTW: I had to repeat this process for my Madden 2008!
