Since EA Sports gives only the very basic amount of information in their documentation that comes with the cd/dvd in how to play Tiger Woods Golf, most of us have probably learned what we know about how this game works and honed our skills through countless hours of play. Occassionally, while playing online and asking questions of a fellow golfer or reading through a tread posted here, we will pick up a new bit of information that will enhance our playing experience.
When posting a tip, please designate whether you are using true swing or clicking and any other helpful info, i.e. skill level, course and settings, etc.
Let me start this off by giving just a couple of examples:
1) When playing an online game of Alternate Shot, NEVER CONCEDE THE HOLE!!! Doing so will usually lock-up the game and tick off your m8s and youll have to reset.
2) Short chip-shots using 3-click: Say the pin is 30 feet away. Instead of moving the slider to 30 and hitting full power, Ill move my slider to 60 feet and go only half power on my power meter. Its much more accurate and forgiving.
3) Backspin usually occurs at distances under 130 yards or so and will increase with more swing power. That is why so many players will leave themselves out further than 130 yards from the green.

| Good observations, Bud. Heres one of my own. I play TS, and use a 12 degree driver. If youre playing with the wind behind you , and you need to hit a long drive..... use the Hi-spin shot all the way forward. The ball will stay aloft a lot longer, and allow the wind to really carry it. Inversely, if youre hitting downhill on dry fairways ( dry greens imply dry fairways), a hi-spin shot played all the way back ( hence, a very low-spin shot) will run forever........ |

Right on, Otto, ty...
Another use ive found for the HIGH SPIN SHOT is when there is a tail wind and the greens are dry or vdry. Youll want to get plenty of loft on a shot like that so that you create a steep angle when the ball comes down minimizing the bounce and roll from the wind at your back and the hard green surface. i will often go up 1 club, set the shot type to a HIGH SPIN and move my slider toward the FORWARD position for the desired yardage and let her fly. This method is especially effective when the pin location is on the front of the green. |

Thanks for these tips guys. Very useful.
Some people may still have a maximum driving distance of 295 or 297 yards but for an extra bit of distance change golf ball to a Bridgestone e6 . This will give you 302 yards. There are other balls which give the same distance but I only use the Bridgestone. Im sure most players already know this but I thought Id mention it for those that dont.
If anyone knows of a set up which can extract yet more yards Id be happy to hear about it :) |

| a lot of people don't realize that you can take a drop and move the ball from impossible lies , ie bushes, behind trees etc . if you land in a bush it may be better to take a drop and move your ball to a better location and only drop 1 shot, im surprised how many people dont use it or know you can |

| Nice tip. But you didn't tell us how? I have only ever been offered a drop after a foul such as OB, water or other hazard. But not those nasty bushes ;-) |

| Click on options and there is an option called drop ball or similar but beware this will incur a 1 shot penalty and doesnt always allow you to drop the ball clear of the hazard. |
