Hi guys, first time I write something here and English isnt my natural language so if a sentence seem weird youll know why :-)
Just got TW 08 I I like it very much but I would like to play the TW 05 stock courses on it. Is it possible and if so how?
I saw in the Tutorials/FAQs section of the Forum topics on how to install stock courses of TW 07 in TW 08 or How To Install 03-05 Stock Courses in ’06 but nothing about 05 in 08!

The file formats (TCR for courses and TCL for libraries) are the same from 2002 all the way up the 2008. HOWEVER...changes have been made to the TW game engine from version to version. Technically, you can install TW05 courses in TW08 the same way that you install TW08 courses into TW08. The problem is due to the engine changes the older courses will probably crash in TW08. You can try to install the 05 courses, but chances are they will either crash, will not display a panorama, or will have strange lighting issues.
Your best bet is to stick to playing 07 and 08 courses in TW08. TW06 courses will load, but do not display a panorama and have lighting issues if they play at all. Going all the way back to TW05 will create even more problems. You can try if you like, but chances are they will not work. |

I wont mess with the old courses then...
There is something I dont get though. I did download a few courses for TW 08 already and they work just fine but I read here somewhere that EA did not make a course architect since 06....so how do they make these courses work just fine in 08...just curious

| The last Course Architect was from TW2006. In order to make 08 courses, designers are installing the 08 stock libraries into TW2006 and using the old CA to design. Several workarounds were worked out, such as how to get a pano to show up in 07/08 using the 06 CA. A lot of tinkering was done by the designers back when 07 came out just so custom courses could be made and from looking at many of the designs that have been put out they did a great job finding ways to make things work. |
