Unfortunately, even though it does help at times, it doesnt really work either. I admin about 12 game servers running punkbuster, and am a pbbans admin as well, and we still catch tons of cheaters that get by punkbuster. Just like viruses, the cheaters also find ways to keep the cheats undetectable the by anticheat software
