Hi this is my 1st post...Ive had this problem ever since i got the game. When playing TW 08 it runs smoothly mostly in the first round i play. However, when trying to play a following round after completing the first, I get a BSOD telling me the file causing the problem is a file called igxpdx32.dll, which is part of my intel 945gma drivers. It says something about PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA as well.
While I know that everyone will be jumping on my case telling me that my laptop isnt made for gaming & all that stuff, my argument is that, if it can run for one whole round without a problem, why cant it just always run without a problem??? Another thing, Ive played TW 06 on the same laptop since december, with full graphics, without any problems at all.
I wish I could say I had money for a desktop with a (officially) supported graphics card, but I unfortunately do not.
Also, I downloaded the latest drivers for my graphics about 9 hours ago (version 6.14.10.4936), but that didnt help(although i played 4 rounds before the error struck, after that i couldnt even start a round, because in the loading screen the BSOD came up).
My specs: -Acer TravelMate 4200WLMi -Intel 945GMA -1024MB DDR2 Ram -Intel Duo Core T2300 1.66GHz CPU
Any constructive comments regarding my problem will be highly appreciated!
P.S: Brilliant Site, Love it! |

| Your problem is not unique, many people report the same problem, since the intel chipsets are not supported by the game. My quess is that since the chipset uses system memory, after playing awhile it depletes the memory to a point that it will no longer play the game. Just a quess though. |

Yes Eagle is correct.....most onboard graphics ( intel chipset) are not powerfull enough to play the custom courses. You already updated your video driver, another thing you can try to do is: Start TW08 game......go to: Options....graphics and set slider to: Best performance Also set to: Manual settings..... and try to turn down some options.
Also very important: there is problem with big loading times between holes, but there is a fix: When you do steps below you will see game is running smoother:
When you start playing TW08 game, it is important to know there is a bug in the game: When you played some courses you will see the loading times between holes are increasing, the game will become slower and slower. Do next steps to solve the problem:
On desktop you will see folder: My documents........ inside look for: Tiger woods PGA tour 2008....and inside go to folder: Career. Inside Career go to folder: Players.......and inside look for your playersname folder. Now you will see folder: Confidence.....and inside you will find files: Hole Type.tcn......and.....Shot type.tcn Now right click both files ( hole.tcn +Shot type.tcn) and delete both files. When you did this: restart TW08 game and play 1 hole on any course and close TW08 game. Go back to same confidence folder and you will see both files are regenerated: but now they are very small size ( 85kb or something like that) Now right click both files ( Type.tcn......and.....Shot type.tcn) and choose : Properties....and check box: READ ONLY. Do this for both files. |

Yes guys thanks for the replies.
But I have done all those things, and I mean ALL of them. Also gunpower, I havent installed or even downloaded any custom courses yet - still playing with the game in its original state.
My only problem with the theory that all video memory gets depleted is: shouldnt there be any signs of problems before the BSOD, like hanging? Because the frame rate is fine, the game is fine, then, out of the blue the BSOD appears.
Now, with other games with the same problem people have reported on the web, they claim that the installed way older drivers (like 2005 versions) & it worked. But my mind cant get around how something way older would work way better? Hence, I havent even tried that yet. I mean, isnt a newer driver supposed to do what the older one does even better, & some new features???
Anyway, would appreciate if someone who HAS found a solution to this problem please come to the fore...
Greetings |

And also, if you say it uses system memory until all memory is depleted, could that mean that, if I buy more RAM, it could solve it? Also, Ive set my paging file to 6GB, but it didnt help... Was it supposed to help?
Im desperate! Thanks again... |

| Also, why havent I had the problem with TW 06 at all, despite the game also not supporting my gfx card, & playing it almost on full gfx? |

adding another G of RAM will help a lot ( my guess is that you have ddr2-533).Why do do you have your pagefile set so high....... probably optimal is 1.5 times physical RAM. In addition, make sure your system isnt adding more load to your problem by loading programs you dont need while playing ( in particular, your AV program ). |

Because as I understand it the paging file works like RAM, and as I see it, the more you have the better??? So, my problem could be because my RAM is full? Shouldnt the system release memory as you go?
I always close all my other running processes, except the 2 igfx*** processes - which apply to my graphics card - & my sound manager...
Yeah I am really considering getting at least 512MB more... Any more tips if this could help & why??? Also why does my system not release the RAM by itself??? |

| actually if you have enough ram installed turning off the paging file is better, again only if you have enough memory for your laptop. I have it turned off with 2g on a desktop and is fine. |
