| When loading into games online Im experiencing what seems like extreme lag, it can take me up to 4-5 minutes for a game to load. Custom courses usually take longer to load and in between each hole the lag time is considrably longer than every one else I play with. I have a cable modem, windows XP, pentium 4 cpu, 2.4 GHz, 256 mb of ram. If you have any troubleshooting ideas Id greatly appreciate it. |

| Heres what I do....Before going online I set my setting to best performance. My PC can run the game all out, but it takes forever to start and in between holes, this is online ONLY since the confidence file does not apply online. |

Also, besides Trus advice, mopre RAM. 256MB is barely enough to make xp chug along on its own. I would recommend 1GB or more. It is dirt cheap right now(I just bought 4GB of high end 1066 for 125.00) the minimum recommended is 512 for this game, so without more ram, I dont really think you can ask for better performance. Also you didnt mention video card, but that shouldnt affect load times, but RAM will very severely as the system will need to page in and out memory as it is loading the course. When I am benchmarking new courses, my memory usage is typically 470MB with the game full up and a fairly large custom running, so if I had only 256, it would be crawling along. I would say the memory will make a big difference. Here are the system reqs for 08:
OS: Windows XP or Windows Vista CPU: 1.6 GHz or faster RAM: 256 MB or more (512 MB for Windows Vista) Hard Drive Space: 3.0 GB free hard disc space plus space for saved games, Windows swap-file, and DirectX 9.0c Video: 64 MB supported Direct3D capable video card (128 MB for Windows Vista) Sound: DirectX 9.0c compatible sound card Input: Keyboard, Mouse SUPPORTED VIDEO CHIPSETS: NVIDIA: GeForce 3/Ti200/Ti500, GeForce 4 Ti 4200/Ti 4600/ti 4800SE/ GeForce FX 5200/5600/5900/6800/7300/7600/7800/7900/7950/8800 ATI: Radeon 8500/9000/9200 AGP/9600/9700/9800/X800/x1300/x1600/x1800/x1900, ATI All-in-wonder Supported Controllers: Logitech Dual Action, Rumblepad 2, Rumblepad 2 cordless and Microsoft Common Controller |

| I added a new Nvidia 7300 GT 512 MB video card, plus I pumped up my RAM to 2 GB about a year ago and I can tell a HUGE difference in my overall system performance. Also, you will find that your overall system will run faster and may give you a little bit better load times if you defrag your hard drives frequently. Also, run your disk cleanup and clear up the temporary files on your hard drives. I have a 250 GB storage drive I download all my add on courses to. That takes alot off of the main drive. |

Hi.... You already did the Confidence folder fix ???.....
When you start playing TW08 game, it is important to know there is a bug in the game: When you played some courses you will see the loading times between holes are increasing, the game will become slower and slower. Do next steps to solve the problem:
On desktop you will see folder: My documents........ inside look for: Tiger woods PGA tour 2008....and inside go to folder: Career. Inside Career go to folder: Players.......and inside look for your playersname folder. Now you will see folder: Confidence.....and inside you will find files: Hole Type.tcn......and.....Shot type.tcn Now right click both files ( hole.tcn +Shot type.tcn) and delete both files. When you did this: restart TW08 game and play 1 hole on any course and close TW08 game. Go back to same confidence folder and you will see both files are regenerated: but now they are very small size ( 85kb or something like that) Now right click both files ( Type.tcn......and.....Shot type.tcn) and choose : Properties....and check box: READ ONLY. Do this for both files. |
