I assume that the better your attributes are in the normal game modes the better you will hopefully play online in comps etc...

No the attributes are not important for online play...
all online players are equal, the all have 75% attributes.

However..... ball type and shaft flex can make a very big difference in ball distance. Youll have to play around with the selection to see what suits your swing. This is more true for Trueswing than 3-clk, but it still has an effect in 3-clk.
