| If i create a custom player and set his playing ability with say Tiger Woodss statistics from the internet then overwrite Tiger Woodss ability files with the newly created abilty files for my custom player, will Tiger Woods adopt these new settings or are the abilities of stock players hard coded somewhere? |

| You can edit stock golfers settings but its not as easy as creating a new player and over-writing. You have to edit the hex code of the stock player and theres a certain offset that has to be edited for each player. If you over-write the stock players file, the stock player will loose its look since thats stored in the custom player file along with name. Ill look into it again I what needs changed but it shouldnt take to long. |

| Hi TBM, i was playing around with files and tracking file changes, i noticed that when you access the game face for a custom player only the *.cal *.hal and *.plr files are updated. When you change the players ability settings at custom game menu the *.aia file is updated this is what led me to believe that ability is only saved in the *.aia. |

The plr file stores all the data for name, face, build and abilities. The other files Im not quite sure what they do.
WOW that was ALOT EASIER then I thought it would be....
paste this file in:
C:\Documents and Settings\Kevin England\My Documents\Tiger Woods PGA TOUR 08\Career\Players
It will set Tigers attributes at 100 for all stats.
Make sure to backup the old file first.
Next scary thing is you can set them above 100....not sure if it actually does anything if its above 100. |

Would i be correct in assuming that a players attributes effect that player if you are playing as that player ie human and can be adjusted with slider bars depending on the number of points you have.
I was always under the impression that the players ability settings only come into effect if the player is an opponent ie computer. |

Hi Kevin, i forgot to mention that the link to plr file is dead, not that it matters as i would rather buid up attributes by points gained.
Im still convinced that the *.aia file stores the ability stats such as ave. round score, sand saves, scrambling, no. of birdies etc. etc. for computer opponents.
Just got to find a way to unlock 08 stock players to update these stats. |

Ok looked into it....try replacing this file and tell me what happens. Unless I mis-understood what you wanted. Are you trying to replace Tigers stats with the actual stats or make his playing ability higher.
As for stats and the AIA file:
theres not enough to any of those files to store stats. Since they track stats by each course as well. I also compared the Default AIA files with the ones store in My DOcuments and no DIfference.
NOW my guess would be the stats are stored in the PGA.gcf file in My documents for your player, since that file grows everytime I play an event. When you first create a p[layer that file is copied from
C:\Program Files\EA SPORTS\Tiger Woods PGA TOUR 08\Default Files\Career\GCFS
So the default stats would be in there some where. I cant even begin to figure that one out since when you play an event there are so many changes I cant pinpoint whats what. |

No go, i just proved myself wrong. I overwrote Tigers aia with that of a custom player with tigers 2007 tour stats and then with arbitary hack stats (like 10% driving accuracy) and Tiger still played the same.
Attributes and Computer Ability are two separate entities (i think) one effecting how a player plays as a human player, the other as a computer player.
The file you created for Tiger increased his attributes to 100% but does not seem to make him play better as a computer apponent when playing against him one on one, only if i play as Tiger as human do i get more power on the drive etc. |

Thanks, but dont waste to much time on this.
The only solution would be to create a new custom player and call him Tiger Wood or Tiger Woody or something like that then pump in the ability stats.
Anyone want to design a custom Tiger, my art work leaves a lot to be desired.
I also noticed that when you play a custom game with say PGA tour opponents they shoot way better scores (computer generated) than if they play paired with you. If i play paired with tiger he struggles to break even and yet he will hit -6 or more when the computer generates the outcome. |

| That would be expected. I thnk they take avg stats for the computer genrated scores and dont actually sim how they would play that course if the computer played the course along side you. I wish they had a setting in the game called Keep Up or something....if the computer sees that you are playing extremley good then it steps it up. |

Not true. I have edited the stats of the PGA Pros in the game and they play a much better game as CPU players when playing a custom game. Unfortunately this does not carry over to the Career or Season AI. |

You have to remove all custom characters in the game setup screen, then choose a Pro Golfer. Then change him/her from Human to CPU player and you should be able to change their attributes. That is how I did it, if I recall correctly. |
