All the stock courses that came with 2007 work great, however all the courses Ive downloaded here have a strange video issue. When I play these courses It seems that off in the distance the computer rendering looks like t.v. static. It is never in my immediate vicinity as a golfer, but it seems to be when the game renders farther into the distance. When I do the course flyby, this static-like area is constantly just out in front of the camera. Again, this problem does not exist at all with the stock courses.

I have tried playing around with video settings in the game to no avail. I have an ATI Radeon 9200 128mb video card and have updated to the latest driver. Still no luck. Any help would be greatly appreciated, because these courses are great.

Hi...
Custom courses are much tougher to render for your system, if you compare with the stock courses.
You are using video card with 128mb ram memory, maybe you system is not strong enough for the custom courses.
You can try this, start Tw07 game and go to options screen:
and try to turn off: “Bloom”, “Depth-Of-Field”, and “Lensflare” effect from the Options screen.

Thanks for the help. I tried changing settings, but still had rendering issues. Im sure my card isnt powerful enough. What are the specs required to use these downloaded courses? I only have an AGP slot on the machine I use to play TW 07. Again, I appreciate your input.

To play TW07 custom courses very well, you will need video card with 256mb memory or more.
When you upgrade video card you must have good power supply ( 300W or more ).
But you will also need a good and fast CPU ( processor). Also it is good idea to have enough RAM memory, 1024mb or more is ok.
So it is no use to upgrade video card to 256mb when the rest of your system is not powerfull enough.
When you run dxdiag on your pc you will receive all info about your system.
Go to desktop......click: Start......choose: Run.........and type in box: dxdiag
click ok.......and you will receive all info of your system.

TW07 has a system info utility (dont know why they scrapped it in 08 :()

go to: C:\Program Files\EA SPORTS\Tiger Woods PGA TOUR 07\Support
and click on EasyInfo.exe

its also in the start menu, TW2007 shortcuts

but agree, your current video card needs upgrading ...

Did some research for you. theres an Ati X1050 256 agp, that only requires 300 watt power
supply, which I believe is average wattage.

Thanks for all the great advice. This is my system currently:

Athlon XP 2600+
1 gig memory
128mb GEForce Nvidia card (I put this card back in after trying the Radeon)
300 watt Antec power supply

I thought Id try to upgrade the video card to play TW with the custom courses on this machine. Im being a bit cheap about it, b/c I probably will build a new machine around this time next year and dont want to spend a lot of money on an AGP video card in the interim. In your opinion, would this card let me play TW with the custom courses and my machine specs?

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814136022

I cant seem to find specs for the power supply on this card, but when I plugged all my info into a power supply calculator Im right around the 300 watt mark, and that is considering 100% usage of everything on your machine. Again, I know Im being cheap, but if a card like this or an equivalent card will work for TW for about $50, Id be thrilled.

Thank you so much for all the responses!! Very helpful!!

heres a 6200 for 54.00 that uses 300w

id stay away from anything with LE in the name
typically it stands for Light Edition

the x1650s are a good price, but power supply requirements probably more than what you have

i played most of last year (07) with a ati 9550 then switched to nvidia 6600
- not super duper cards, but useable for 07 (and 08 if you move up)
so somewhere in there will get you through the next year
ati9600 worth looking at too

http://www.tomshardware.com/2007/11/06/best_graphics_card/page6.html
take a look at that link
try and move up at least 3 tiers to make it worthwhile
but no lower than the 6600 if choosing nvidia

and this one compares cards of that vintage
http://www.tomshardware.com/2005/07/05/vga_charts_vii/page2.html
pay attention to pixel pipelines, memory - and forget 64bit buswidth

heres the previous one to the above - some overlap

Yeah, I know. Ill poke around and see if I can sniff out some deals. Most likely, this will just have to wait until I build a new machine. Thanks for all the input.
