Hola!
I recently installed TW06 on my new PC. Its been two computers since the last time I installed TW06, and my current computer has a AMD Athlon Dual Core Processor thingy. Also an NVIDIA GeForce 7300 LE. Also Windows XP and 4 gigs of RAM.
So!
When the game loads properly, the following happens:
1) I get a small Tiger Woods 06 splash thingy that doesnt take up the full screen, and has a picture of Tiger Woods on it. 2) That splash thingy will disappear, and then will pop back up again. 3) The screen will go dark and change resolution, and Ill get the EA SPORTS: ITS IN THE GAME!!!1! movie. 4) Ill get a random movie of some golfer like Ian Poulter announcing that he, too, is in the game. 5) Then Ill get a large Tiger Woods O6 splash screen with the version number at the bottom left. 6) Then Ill get the disclaimer screen, announcing the owners of the various registered trademarks. 7) Then Ill get the main menu with my golfer shucking and jiving to Dave Matthews.
Thats how its supposed to go. Unfortunately, it rarely goes that way.
Sometimes I click on the Launch game icon and...nothing. Nothing at all happens. SOMETIMES when this occurs, I can pull up the process manager and find the game executable still in the process list. Other times, its not there.
Other times, Ill get the first splash screen (the one that doesnt take up the whole screen), and then it disappears and...doesnt come back. And nothing else happens.
Other times Ill make it all the way through Ian Poulter telling me that hes in the game...and then I drop to desktop.
Other times Ill make it to the disclaimer screen, only to get dropped to desktop before hitting the main menu.
It usually takes me, oh, five or six times going through this process and getting repeatedly dropped to the desktop before I can actually load up a game of golf.
At which point we run into the other (presumably related) bug whereby the game crashes to desktop every time I leave a golf course.
I would really like to play this game. I have looked for a patch for this game, but there doesnt seem to be one that I can find. Leastways, there doesnt seem to be one on the EASports website. If anyone knows what might be causing this and how I can fix it, I would be very, very thankful. |

| There is no patch for TW06 FROM a main executable standpoint that I am aware of. I also know that your nVidia 7300 LE was not supported by the game as it was not yet released nor tested with 06. You might check to see if you have the AMD dual core optimizer installed as it may be releated to your dual core CPU and not the graphic chipset. TW06 was also not designed to run on dual core CPUs as they were just being released around the time the game was release (IIRC). |

I dont know if the AMD dual core optimizer fixed the particular problem I described only time will tell.
However, Im almost certain that it DID fix another bug Ive been having with TW06.
And Im pretty sure it may have fixed a long-term bug Ive had with EverQuest 2 a bug that has driven me absolutely crazy for MONTHS.
I think I may love you. Do you like long walks on the beach in the moonlight?
Okay, okay, that may be overstating the case. Maybe. Depends on if it actually fixed the EQ2 bug or not.
(If its not obvious, I very much appreciate your help.) |
