| Just had this problem and have now uninstalled this update.IMHO its about time Bill Gates and his shower got their act together and checked that updates dont interfere with programs already installed on peoples computers. I cant see why they should release an update that stops programs from working. Im going to demand $1,000,000 from Mr Gates for the upset this has caused me, the emotional trauma Ive suffered for the last half hour has got to be worth that !!!! |

Hi Jockyburns.... You will have to disable : windows Automatic updates. On your desktop look for icon: This computer ( or My computer).....right click icon...choose: Properties....and on top you will see: Automatic updates. Here you will have option to disable: Automatic updates. |

| Thanks Gunpower I have had to set it to let me choose when to download and install updates as Norton AV doesnt like automatic updates turned off. I have been in touch with Microsoft about this and am now awaiting a reply to see if there is a workaround for this. By the way I tried allowing port exceptions using the data supplied by EA for the game but to no avail, so for now the update is staying uninstalled. |

I think it is going to be up to EASO to fix the security breach in their program. |

Yes, but without the UPDATE features
UPDATE KB 942615 is Cumulative security UPDATE for Internet Explorer http://support.microsoft.com/kb/942615 so anything it was designed to fix/change will not be fixed/changed
but your browser will still work, and not having it installed will allow you to connect to EASO if that was the problem |

| Pat, Jo posted the fix over at the TWC, and its working for folks. I think you may have made a small error in editing that last [\IFRAME] item. You might go take a look at what Jo posted today. |

No problem Jo.... your manually instructions working great, and it is easy to do. Look out: It works with XP....not sure it will work with Vista!!!! Read instructions below:
Go to next (default) path:
Program Files\EA SPORTS\Tiger Woods PGA TOUR 08\EASO\TW\main And look for file: easoMain.html
make a backup of the original file: easoMain.html !!! (Right click file ...copy and paste to desktop, just in case something goes wrong )
Now install the problems windows UPDATE: KB 942615 ( when you run windows UPDATE it will be installed ) After that go back to:
Program Files\EA SPORTS\Tiger Woods PGA TOUR 08\EASO\TW\main And look for file: easoMain.html Right click file: easoMain.html......and choose to open with: Notepad search for the following line....(you can find in the middle of the file):
IFRAME id=easoHtmlIframe SRC=../../commonHtml/blank.html FRAMEBORDER=2 BORDER=2 width=5 height=5 tabindex=-1 /IFRAME
and change it to ...
FRAME id=easoHtmlIframe SRC=../../commonHtml/blank.html FRAMEBORDER=2 BORDER=2 width=5 height=5 tabindex=-1 /FRAME
So the only thing you have to do is to change the first and the last word FROM: IFRAME to FRAME
When you did don t forget to SAVE the file easoMain.html
Now start TW08 and you should be able to go to EASO.
Thanks for sharing Jo !!!! |

Jo, Whatever you did, it WORKS!!!!!!!! I just got a reply FROM EA telling me to remove the critical patch for IE7. Now I dont have to. Please let EA know what you did for both XP and Vista, as no one should have to remove a critical UPDATE just to play a game. I cant thank you enough for you assistance. EA should put you on the payroll. Have a great holiday season and I will play next week. Tool ate now as shopping must be done. Thanks again.
Pete
Gunpower, the file was tested on windows XP and Vista FROM 5 people and it works. But however, I wont post any link to a file or help regarding Tiger Woods on here again !!!!!
Btw, Im still forum moderator. this status should be removed, because I hardly have time for such a job, anyway.
