Hi Gang,

I thought Id seek solace amongst friends.

Truth is, I appear to be a crap player!!

Ive never known myself to play to such consistently low scores on the PGA tour mode of this game.

I play along nicely for a few holes, get to around -2, and then suddenly have a run of bogeys, doubles, to make a top ten finish untenable.

Some of the ways this happens are totally unforeseeable - like having a flag at the top of a steep slope (Firestone) and trying to chip to it. Ball rolls down the hill every time. If you hit past the hole, and then miss the downhill putt, youre off the green again.

My bunker play is unreliable - thought Id cracked it, but no......

Sometimes the shot paths on the holes are just not right, and I hit a tee shot that goes straight, and right of the hole.....

Joking apart, I just wondered if anyone else was suffering the same traumas as me????

Ive played TW02 onwards, and never had this kind of issue before.

Either that, or Im just getting older and cant take the pace anymore.

Yes, I wondered if the confidence factor was to blame.

Not so sure I agree that the confidence meter is such a good idea - (apart from the fact it eats your hard disc a little...)

I mean.....in reality, lets say you hit a bad 5 iron on your home course on hole 2, for example. Does that mean that despite every other good 5 iron you hit every other hole, every time you come back to hole 2 and are faced with a similar 5 iron shot youre going to hit a poor shot??

I agree that the game is more challenging, and that the wind and ball lie makes a difference this time which is how it should be. The confidence factor I find a little gimmicky and not that realistic for reasons above.

Me personally, if I hit a bad drive in real life, my confidence is more likely to be affected on the next tee I need the driver - not the next time I play the same hole again.

Id like to have seen the confidence factor done differently somehow if it had to be there at all.

Like you, I got through the amateur level pretty well. Draws and slices become more reactive as your attributes climb which adds to the difficulty.

Thanks for replying!

Make no mistaker I reckon TW08 is one of the toughest versions to date....
All my short Iron shots go way too high and land short.
Driving is definitely tougher too, nevermind putting!!!

Only 1 way to get better tho....
