Links Corner has a nice setup to rate courses-ace, eagle, birdie, par, worse.
It would be a nice way to segregate courses a long with the other filters. God forbid anyone say anything negetive in the comments or its deleted. All that tells me is a course with no comments isnt very good. Or how about a filter that says how many comments a course has! That would aparently do the same thing ! |

the error of rating courses by comments is that certain architects get more popularity then others because of the popular real courses they make while some architects can go unnoticed, youd be surprised AT what you can find from courses with little to no comments and even a lack of downloads. Some of my favorite courses are from not very well known architects.
I do agree with you about the rating system: would be rather awesome, because its simpler to rate a course then comment on it, thus youd get a wider poll about the course.
Even though I like the idea This poll though could be overly cruel though. Imagine how it would feel to go to this website to find that on average, people dont like your course? That bar doesnt explain itself !!!! Comments Do!!!!!!!
This site itself seems more geared to the downloader than the architect because it helps the downloader weed out what courses to download whilst the architect sits and hopes that his art (course) has fans. I guess the architect is always trying to give something and the downloader is always trying to find something.
Its definitely easier to find good art then make good art and thats why most criticism is unnecessary except suggestions for improvement, no this course sucks, lol, omg Man! (imagine an annoying voice speaking this) or considerably worse ones. Also its increasingly more complicated to make courses for tw games and man... I feel like we have all we need. |

Ive never noticed this happening. Ive often seen negative comments on a course page.
Personally, I would consider both voting/rating and the comments to be virtually worthless. Ive seen many courses highly praised by the community while I find them to be junk, likewise Ive really enjoyed courses that the community seemingly ignored. Its all opinion and different people are looking for different things in a course.
I actually use a pretty simple method. No preview images, no consideration for download. Images dont lie (unless theyve been doctored a la photoshop) so if I can see 5-10 shots of the course, that generally tells me all I need to know about the quality of the course.
If someone doesnt show preview images, theyre either too lazy to put up images (which means they could well be too lazy to do a good job with the course) or theyre too gutless to show the course in all its glory, which again means they dont think the course is good enough to show it.
Mandatory preview images would potentially give people a much better sense of good vs. bad rather then relying on second hand opinions. |

I dont know Quietly, theres eye candy courses which look good in photos, and then theres courses that dont look the best in photos but turn out to be great because of the layout is creative.
On the Redroush issue, you can just ask one of the administraters by leaving a note and probably one of them will know why. Just discuss it with them before you get to rash about course rating on his website. |
