I am new to unziping stuff to a PC game like TW 08. I unzipped Jeffs logos to the course directory of TW 08 just fine, but where do you unzip the sreens that Jeff created? Do you also unzip it to the courses directory?

delvanis
unzip to any folder, can be your desktop.
you will have to open each course folder and copy
logo or splash for that course. you will use the cu
enclosed to put logos or screens into the game.

Thank you for your reply.I have unzipped Jeffs screens in a folder in my C\ drive.Secondly I also installed the Utility progam in My Documents in a folder. So, I understand that you must use one screen at a time to somehow install it using the utility program. Now in simple terms just how do I do that? I await your instructions.Thank you.

delvanis,

1 open jeffs 08 screens folder and TW08 courses folder
2 open the course folder for for a certain course
3 copy screen for course from jeffs folder
4. paste into that courses folder in TW08 course folder
5 start CU up and pick your course and pick properties
6 go to box for logo and hit the small box on the right
7 find TW08 course folder with your new screen
8 select new screen
9 blank box should have now have location in box
10 close CU property box and new screen should be in
TW08

Thanks so much for all your help. The instructions you gave me worked great for imputing a logo, but not for splash screens. When you open your CU and select your course and then properties and click the logo box it only has dds files. There is no screens button o click in properties when using the CU? There is only Picture, Logo and text buttons.I could not find sceens or splash screens? So I am stuck.

well actually speaking mr. 717 it does appear that TW2008 stock courses use the .dds file format for their splash screens which might be causing mr delvanus some confusion as it appears that their is possibly some difference between 2007 and 2008 and designers might possibly need to be aware of this difference for their 2008 courses

Splash screens can be in either TGA or DDS format (the ones I created are in TGA). In years past, TGA was the standard for splash screens, but in TW08 EA went with DDS files for splashes. Either will work though.

well on occasion i am most certainly wrong but if one looks at the stock course folders in the TW2008 game it is quite clear that the splash screens this year are using the .dds file format (Microsoft DirectDraw Surface) as i said previously.
This was in response to mr delvanus comment that he only saw dds files.

it apprears from mr jarvises explanation that he made a perfectly correct decision to provide additional splash screens in the .tga format

So should I place the splash screens in the picture section of Properties of the CU, since it seems like you place your logo dds into the logo catagory??? I just want to know where exactly you place the unzipped screens when using the Course Utility program.I also want to thank Jeff Jarvis for his unselfish work for all the logos and screens.Without Mr Jarvis work none of this would be possible.

Yes, the Picture area is where you put the location of the splash screen.

Thanks for the kind words. I really wanted people to be able to play the older courses in 08 and I was happy to do the work if it meant people would be able to do that.
