Hi. I recently started playing TW 07 and to my surprise found that my golfer can only hit the ball out of the rough a distance of about 150 yards (this, using a 3 iron). This seems pretty unrealistic to me. On any longish par 4 if I miss the fairway off the tee I cant even get to the green. Am I missing some shot ability that comes later in the game? What is your experience?

You have to remember that you are starting out the game as a hacker. As you increase your skill points so will your club distances increase from the fairway and the rough.

Sounds plausible, its a bit of frustration really though. I shouldnt be losing five clubs for hitting out of the medium rough. Do you know which stat improves this? How do you guys improve this shot area? It really penalizes me on courses like Pebble Beach, Dragon, and Central Park. While I consistently shoot 2-6 under par on other courses on these three Im usually 5-10 over par.

Also, what is the breakdown for the long game, and short game improvement statistics? Is the long game all the woods and the short game all the irons, or long game all of the clubs at full swing and short game chips, pitches, sand shots and flops? Thanks in advance for your input.

As far as the long and short game attributes go, I have never really realized that they do much of anything. Someone else may want to comment on them. The attribules that you want to increase the most would be power, for the obvious reason. Shot mastery, which will allow you to unlock lessons that will add the slider bars to your game interface to help you pull off certain shots. Putting, which extends the grid lines on the green which makes it easier to read putts. I always give the edge to increasing the power attributes and keep inceasing the shot mastery and putting about half as much as power. I also increase the long and short game, but not quite as much as the other three. That seems to work good for me.
