I just saw this on a tv show called hi-tech toys. It allows you to swing your own clubs and translates the data into EA TW pc or PS2 games. If this does what it advertises it might be worth the $250. Anybody tried this?

Thanks for the info, Hatman. Hard to believe youre the only one to reply here. I went ahead and got a Launchpad. I havent used it a lot yet...Ive had to do a lot of rearranging to get enough room to swing, and still havent figured out where to put my keyboard/mouse. I realized after playing about 12 holes that the keybd/mouse have to be elevated...kills the back to lean over to set up the shot while standing (ouch).
It seems to be pretty accurate because after about 3 beers I started getting mishits :-). Im 5ft 7in so my swing plane doesnt come close to the cieling. I tend to take shallow divots, so Im hoping the hitting surface will last longer.
Do you play at a lower skill level with the Launchpad? I read a product review that suggested doing so. I was getting close to 100% power with the driver and teed-up 3w but much lower with irons. I did change to slow tempo shafts...but still got the lower power with irons...Ill have to try using the putt setting for irons.
I felt that I had to swing way harder than expected on chipping and putting. Any suggestions? Thanks |

Hi. I saw the above mention article in a golf show last year in Canada. The price was $300.00.The inconvenience wit it is that the ball that you use will deteriorate after a few 100 swings and there is no way to replace it without ordering one from the Company. Waist of time . etc..
I have at home a laser golf game that permit you to swing a laser club instead of using your mouse. Its made in Australia. It has 4 golf courses & you can play all the 2006 TW courses with it also. You can also play up to 8 players. Also I could transfer the image from my laptop to a 19 monitor or my 51 TV.Its the real thing to golf. For more info got to.www.lasergolfgame.com. I have mine for over 2 years now & still enjoying every moment of it with my friends. |

Hi, I got one (electric spin) for christmas, played a lot of time and really enjoyed it.
Im a novice in golf (started to play 1 yr ago). But I use the expert mode to have more accurate result. Yes, I have to use the mulligan button some time, in putting by example because the ball goes to the right at each time (Im not so bad in putting in real life, for its impossible for me to swing the ball 2 foot to the right when Im at 8 of the hole. I should try the novice mode to be sure its not a problem of the sensors. Anyway, I just turn the player to the left with 7-8 clicks and the result is pretty good.
I dont use the driver, only the 3-iron to SW. The result seem to be good, but I look forward to the end of winter to try on real course to see if the result are still accurate.
So for the moment I hit the ball maybe 500times, the ball still seem to be ok, few normal print of the ball, but its still well hung on the pivot.
I use it only on Tiger Wood 07, but I dont fake the driver. I move my player to the nearest tee position. So I use my 3-iron and select the 3-iron for the player. So if I hit 200yards and Im nearest 50yrds in the real life, its as if I hit 250yrs. So I only use my driver.
I hope other people will post here, nice thread!!!
Smallfox493 : the ball isnt needed, so you can use a real ball or no ball at all. But ill pay for the replacement kit when the ball will be too much used. |

Hi
I have the Launchpad tour which I use in conjunction with TW08. I have found it to be reasonably accurate in terms of detecting whether a shot goes right/left/straight and in terms of distance. It will not however, differentiate between a hook and a pull or a push and a slice. It will just result in a slice/hook going x yards right or left. I have raised this with the manufactures and they have said that the system combines the path/angle of club at impact resulting in a distance right or left. Hopefully they may fix this in future with a software/firmware update.
One question I have with regard TW08 - Is it possible to have or create an 'Invisible' avatar? As I control the swing using the Launchpad, the avatar is not really necessary. Just need to see the ball go off and land. Perhaps someone on here with the necessary knowledge would be kind enough to create one.
Anyway if anyone has anyone has any suggestions or needs any tips/info on using Launchpad then please feel free to reply to this post.
Regards. |
