Jeff was wondering if you could do anything about all the bad course comments comming out i understand their are bunches of new designers out their and their giving it all but ive been around tiger woods series since 99 but is their anyway you might just go ahead and take the comments off on the courses cause this is getting out of hand on some of the bad comments made to designers courses i understand if you wont but common people lighten up and help them out dont just bash them left and right and call them trash geez common thought were better community than that ..

Tru is in the process of redesigning the site at this time. One of the revisions is going to be a change to the comments section. At this point one thought is to only give the ability to make comments to people who have a paid membership. The other thought is to completely remove the comments section altogether. It has become a real pain in the butt to try to handle all of the children on this site, regardless of what their actual ages are. Typically I will leave comments up as long as someone isnt blasting the architect and as long as they say WHY they didnt like a course. Comments like IT SUCKS get removed. We are 2 people running this site and we do not have time to hold peoples hands, to sit there 24 hours a day moderating the comments area. We cannot please everyone, so I am sure what we allow or dont allow will not please everyone. We are in a no-win situation with everyone.
Honestly, I hope the comments section as well as the forum completely go away. Im tired of dealing with all of the immaturity and childishness that has crept into this community over the past couple of years. |

Ive addressed this in previous posts before, but I will mention it again here. We as a staff are really in a Catch-22 position in regards to course comments. If we offer the option for course comments (like we do now), you are always going to have some jerk(s) that will trash courses for no reason, to get revenge on another designer, to elevate themselves, etc. If we use our discretion to delete comments, we are told we are censoring people or we are invading their First Amendment rights to free speech, etc. If we remove the option for course comments, we are screwed as well because then we get complaints from people that want to legitimately tell an arch how much they appreciate the hard work they have put into a course.

On the other hand there are some very poor courses being produced... not just one design by the same designer but multiple designs. They do not take advantage of the community and have beta tested nor do they even try to read the manuals or seek out the tutorials available...
