Hello gang,
It's been years since I've been on Course Downloads but after a brand new PC upgrade and a fresh new Windows 10 install, I decided I'd give Tiger Woods PGA Tour 2008 and Course Downloads another try. If I'd known the hell I was in for, I would've taken a nuclear physics course, it would have been less aggravating. Yet, after a long night and half a day I have now successfully installed Tiger Woods 2008 and Tiger Woods Caddy 2008. I'll bore you with the steps needed below.
My major issue is that for some bizarre reason, there is no sound at all when I play the game. The sound files were successfully installed and the game does play the iconic "E - A - SPORTS" teaser when the game first loads, but when I play a course there is absolutely no sound at all. All sound settings in the Options tab are high and I choose the PGA Tour commentary option when doing a Custom Game. Nothing. No sound in PGA Tour mode or Play Now mode either. Has anyone come across this particular issue and by any chance do you have a resolution?
I offer in exchange the harrowing account below of the steps I needed to take to get the game running:
1. A clean install of Tiger Woods PGA Tour 2008.
2. Run game. Error messages say Animator.dll, Engine.dll are missing and game will not run.
3. Find the files on the original DVD-ROM and realize they are there. Run another install of TW08. Missing files are now installed.
4. Run game again. Get messages that say MFC71.dll, MSVCIP71.DLL and msvcr71.dll are missing and game will not run.
5. Missing files are NOT on original DVD-ROM. Google search shows they are old .NET Redistributable files that were part of Visual Studio Redistributable packages. Look for said packages. Find that said packages no longer exist.
6. Find each individual missing DLL over the Internet and download them. Placed these in the Windows System32 and SysWOW64 directories as per instructions -- the exact same instructions that are required to run malware on a Windows computer. Oh well.
7. Run virus scan on the entire PC. Nothing bad happens. Try again. Game will not run. Get messages saying video card is incompatible and not enough graphics memory to run the game. My RTX 2080 has 8 GB of graphics memory. TW08 only requires 64 MB to run.
8. Find solution on Course Downloads forum. Download and install latest dgVoodoo2 emulator in TW08 Bin directory where the game executable is. Run it. Nothing works. I still get the same errors.
9. Download the previous dgVoodoo2. Install it and run it. It works.
10. Play the game. Absolutely no sound coming during actual gameplay.

Hello, not sure why you have no sound at all.
There was a setting when you are missing some sounds, but not sure it will help you, worth to try though:
On TW08 startscreen go to: Game modes.....custom game....Advanced ( the cup icon on top )
And set: Tournament atmosphere: PGA Tour
And check box: Use tournament audio |
